I dont understand how paying £4mill for Smithies is a waste of money?

If Etheridge gets injured we have a very good goalkeeper to step straight into the team. If we had not signed him and we had to play Murphy people would be having a go because we didnt sign a back up player like is currently happening with our right back situation.

we gave Murphy a new contract..and the few occasions he has been used he has not let us down..yes its nice to have back up but seriously how this back up keeper was a bigger priority than a right back for the first 11 beats me..
we are so short on quality back ups should be the under 23s and all money spent really should be aimed at 1 to 11

Exactly we wasted millions on a back up keeper when Murphy was already a fine replacement and if we were that desperate could have got a free transferee in as back up. Whilst we didn’t address the fact that we desperately needed a RB and also to strengthen even further up top and in midfield.

I really don't like being critical of our manager but this one makes no sense to me..at worse Etheridge was going to miss 2/3 games..

Warnock needs to sell a few first teamers and get some more keepers in.

Who says Murphy isn’t good enough? Also what step up the the premier league being a keeper is pretty much the same at every level of professional football

Your either good or your not I said when we signed Etheridge he would be number one as he was already one of the best in the EFL when playing for Walsall most on here seemed to think Camp would be number one.

We couldn’t have got someone in on a free to be backup keeper and thus had more money to spend on other players in posiitions we needed to strengthen.

Warnock has done a fantastic job for us but if he ever moans about not enough money then he has nobody to blame but himself as he wasted millions on the summer on a back up keeper and lwftback instead of buying in poaoition we needed to strengthen such as RB, Striker and CM.

Etheridge has done really well but who’s to say he wouldn’t have bombed, made a shed full of mistakes or got injured and was out a month or more. May still happen.
That’s why you need a decent back up. And then you need a third decent back up. It’s a no brainier.

I could go on their we’re plenty of better ways to spend the millions we payed for Smithies and Cunningham
