Why we are not able to compete in the Premier League

Sun Dec 23, 2018 4:59 pm

Let's be honest. If you owned a ford fiesta and you entered formula 1 then you wouldn't win a race.
The big clubs in the Premier League can spend Formula 1 money and we can't or aren't prepared to. In ANY competition you should have a fighting chance to compete and this is not the case for the likes of us in this league.
Let's have our season in the sun and then go back to where we are wanted and where we belong.

Are you for real???? :o

City ARE competitive in the Premier League and have exceeded expectations to date but what you and other part-timers need to realise is that the Premier League is split into those at the very top; those 'happy' to tread water in mid-table; and those trying to stay on the bus with limited resources

As a newly promoted team on a comparative shoestring budget, we are certainly competing against those immediately around us and that is what will count come the season end! ;)

Fair play Chris, that’s as pathetic a post as I’ve seen on here in quite a while!

Paul, I think he's still recovering from Black Friday!

I've got a better question: Why can'r some so-called Cardiff City fans gt behind their club? :?

You and the family have a Merry Christmas, Paul :occasion5: :ayatollah:

The point I was trying to make is that I would rather be in a league where you have at least the remotest chance of winning the league or at least being part of a European campaign. This will never be the case unless we are prepared to spend Formula 1 type money.
What really is the point of being in the Premier League?

Please don't pass comment like 'part timer's when you have no idea who I am or how long I have supported the City.
I simply posted an opinion and would expect that to be considered without being insulted.

It was an unthought opinion, to be fair and one akin to a part-timer! ;)

What is the point of having a professional club at all, if you have no ambition to play at the top? :?

It's what me and thousands of other life-long City fans have dreamed of and now it's here we'd like to think we're giving it a go in what is notoriously a difficult first season to survive

Remember, it could be worse; we could be Fulham, having spent £100m+ and now be rock bottom! :ayatollah:

I agree 100% with your comments. Of course I wanted us to compete in the Championship and the result of that was a deserved promotion to the Premier League. We are trying our damdest to compete and have done amazingly well so far but I question the fairness of a league that really means that the richest win all the top prizes.
Anyone will tell you I am EXTREMELY passionate when it comes to the team I love it's just I don't enjoy the one sided matches against the 'top six' teams.
Just my opinion which is probably based on the fact that yesterday was an extremely bad day at the office.

Very little for you. I suggest that you get into the train to Swansea and start supporting them . You'll meet lots of other people who don't like Cardiff City and you can tell them how crap we are whilst enjoying the championship

I sort of get what your saying to a point, defo do not agree though..the point of football is to try and win, then if you win you play at a higher level, are you suggesting not trying to win the championship to avoid being promoted.?

this division has always been tough but the only way our club will grow both on and off the pitch is to remain in the top division possible..we should be done with lower league football ,had way too much already and if your in the 2nd tier and not trying very hard to progress upwards sooner or later you will go downwards..

I can also sort of see where you are coming from but as others have said, you have to strive to be in the Prem. It will take time and good management to move up the table and not just throw money at it as we did last time. Tortoise and not the hare!
Lets just hope we stay up this year and then build on that.

To me It sounds as if you are referring to the top 6-7 teams in the league?? if that's the case then many of us are annoyed and frustrated by the way we simply fold against them. On saturday, before kick off our players looked liked rabbits in headlights and that's where the nightmare started. It also doesn't help the week leading up to the game that our manager keeps telling the world press that we shouldn't be in this league, we are light years behind these teams and we hope some how to keep the score line respectable, it hardly fills our players with confidence does it.

Most City fans and most football fans want to see their Club competing at the highest level, I for one do not want to return to the Championship where, yes, we may be challenging for promotion again but it might take years to get back to the Prem.We have earned our place among the elite, let's do our bloody best to try and stay there. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:
