MEN v BOYS

Sorry, but that was truly awful, what is it with us when we play the top 6-7 teams in this division?? i don't expect us to beat them but we should be giving them a game. We were totally outplayed, the amount of time and space we gave every one of their players was shocking and they looked as if they would score with every attack. Yes we need a striker but our defence is all over the place and we must have the slowest central defenders in the premiership in Morrison and Bamba. Playing the likes of united will not define our season but with our away form so bad it's putting far too much pressure on our home games, also Warnock has got to stop bumming these teams up through the week leading up to the game.

Rolls Royce’s versus carthorses.

Totally agree. A shameful performance.
We can’t go through a season with this central defense and expect to stay up.
We can’t pass the ball 10 yards to our own player.

We are majorly lacking in quality and have been lucky to win the games we have imo. We need some quality in Jan or we are going to tumble down to the bottom, only Huddersfield are worse, Fulham will get better and Southampton are already improving. Palace and Leicester away next who just have had massive wins can’t see us getting anything from them.

It still beggers belief how warnock never brought in a striker and a right back in the summer.

That’s a disrespectful header. Not worthy of our supporters. We always back our boys.
This is about Mega spenders vs Peanut spenders.
Pointless trying to draw any conclusions from mega spender games.
The reality is we’re in a mini 7 team league. Just need to finish 4th.
We can do it if we hold our nerve and back Neil and the squad.
Striker needed in January that’s all.
Our Nantes Argentinian big money target is playing now vs PSG. 1-0 PSG.
I’ve previously suggested signing Max Gradel from Toulouse.
Scored 2 pens tonight. 8 goals and 4 assists in 17 games for lowly Toulouse.
Played with Harry at Bournemouth and with Sol at Leeds and internationally.
Neil signed him previously. Couple of million? At his best with fans behind him.
Made for Cardiff City.

Our players aren't good enough to compete with teams who spend more money on one player than we have spent on every single player we have ever bought combined.

That's not their fault.

They're doing what they can but are battling at the moment with their hands tied behind their backs.

PS Max Gradel MOTM rated 8.8 on fotmob. 2-1 away win over 2nd placed Lille.
PSG won 1-0. Sala rated 6.5.

"Disrespectful" men v boys was exactly as it was, and if you think that we only need a striker in january then god help us. We need a holding midfielder because teams are just running though our midfield, a couple of defenders because we just can't defend and a manager to stop telling our opponents how brilliant they are and how sh%t we are.

Missing the point. Neil doing a good job with funds available. It’s a money game. Pound for pound top manager.
List every team based on money spent over say last three seasons. Surprise suprise, closely matches their current premier league position.
Our squad valued at less than their star players.
Get it?

I don't think it was Men v Boys; it was Silk Purses v Sow's Ears. We can't blame the players for their inadequacies: the blame lies elsewhere.

We can't keep hiding behind the amount of money the top sides are spending compared to us when week in, week out, our defence are making school boy errors in EVERY game we play. Basic defensive mistakes are killing us and in most games we are going a goal behind early doors and find ourselves playing catch up. Yesterday was a shambolic effort, if we are going to be classed as a "typical warnock team" then lets play like one, in their faces, closing their space down and not giving them time to play as they like, all of which were missing yesterday, we have now conceded EIGHTEEN goals in four games against the top 6-7 teams.

It's not just the top 6 or 7 teams that are embarrassing us. Recently, both Watford and West Ham (mid table teams), gave us a brutal dressing down. Their individual abilities, movement, pace and variation in play showed our utter paucity. Pay footballing peanuts for players and there is only one thing you will get. At least Dalman's quote today brings a shaft of light into the foolhardy tight transfer budget of Tan. It's not as if it's Tan's money we would be spending; Sky is coughing up £200m for a season in the top flight. My only surprise is we managed, somehow, to get Camarasa.

We need to get in these teams faces ,tackle them ,hassle them rough them up a bit ,come on City for crying out loud

Re: MEN v BOYS

We should at least be able to string more than two passes together. Do we actually have to spend £200 million to get a couple of midfielders who can pass the ball to one of our own players. The player who annoyed me most yesterday was Bamba apart from some inept defending he could not seem to bring the ball out of defence without constantly passing the ball to a Man Utd player.

Bit of an over reaction on this thread, I fear...

City were beaten by (arguably) the biggest club in world football and whose players were finally given permission to play their own game. The post-Mourinho effect was always going to go one of two ways and sadly it went the way many of us thought it would; with a massively improved performance and a bit of a drubbing

We were pretty unlucky to be the team ManUre played next after Mourinho's exit and (let's be fair) they would likely have done similar to most teams anywhere near our position as it stands

Roll on Crystal's Palace and let's move on...quickly! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

No over reaction from me sven, although i agree with what you say about the new manager syndrom there can be no excuse for not being in their faces and giving their players the freedom of the park. As for our defending, it seems to be getting worse as the season goes on, we are very rarely carved open in games (apart from utd 3 goal) because we are gifting teams with their goals, sunday league standard defending. Our away form is so bad that we really do have to have a real "go for it" ar home and if we get beat so what because yesterday there was very little energy from city and we still got hammererd.

Re: MEN v BOYS

This is a team with bundles of talent that cost over 200 million and more.. this is how they should be playing but yes we showed them too much respect and let them pick us apart at ease.

I just don't know what Warnock instructed the players after the first goal.. 3 minutes into a game and we was counter pressing and high pressing like we was 1-0 with 10 minutes to go not 85 minutes.. In other games at home we stayed compact when conceding and been patient but yesterday was baffling to see Manga and Cunningham going as far as they did up the pitch so early on and Bamba and Morrison virtually just playing a high line. It really confused me.

The subs bringing Arter off.. then ended up bringing Ralls on towards the end.. where was the sense in that?

Paul, I was aiming at the "shameful" comments, as that is a little OTT :thumbright:

Agree that defence 'stepped off' far to often and, for me, Bamba was strangely most culpable in that! :ayatollah:

Wasn't having a go at you sven, far from it. For me Bamba has been dreadful this season (mind morrison isn't far behind him) so i would drop Bamba, bring Manga into his rightful position, (he his being made to look a fool because he is not a right back) and play jaz or peltier at RB they are not premier standard but they are at least genuine right backs.
