MY VIEW: THE RETURN OF SOLSKJAER, BROUGHT THE BEST OUT OF UN

MY VIEW / OPINION

THE RETURN OF SOLSKJAER, BROUGHT THE BEST OUT OF UNITED WHO SHOWED CARDIFF WHAT CLASS WAS ALL ABOUT.

Manchester United from the first minute were just to much for Cardiff.

Over all, an awful performance by Cardiff, it was as if we never turned up today.

Warnock has now not beaten United in 8 games, just drawing one of them.

WHAT A DREAM START FOR OLE GUNNER SOLSKJAER / UNITED JUST ROSE TO THE OCCASION WITH PURE CLASS.

Pure class by United thats the truth.

First-half: United put on a show that will have impressed new manager Solskjaer and some of their goals were just world class.

Second-half: United just eased through the second-half.

IT was obvious those wingbacks wa going to create unbalance the first ten mminutes. I didn’t know what to expect before the game. But surely we needed to adjust.
We got played out of the park not doing so.

That was United back to their best. Arguably their best attacking performance since Sir Alex Ferguson retires.

We didn’t stand a chance.

Big game for us at Palace in Boxing Day - we stand a much better chance of getting a result there.

Don’t think anyone can blame Warnock or the team for that result today. Their performance and quality was too strong. Most teams in this league would have struggled against that.

Said be 4 or 5 after knew josè was gone ! Can only blame the poor defending just look at the wall for 1st goal? Hard to find a more pathetic attempt at defending a free kick and tbh that sums up our problems making school boy errors all the time that costs us goals

Yes, but I think it’s a fair comment to say that in terms of quality we’re closer to Crystal Palace than Manchester United.

That was less about Man Utd’s “class,” and more about absolutely dire performances by many of our players, and yet another example of our manager being absolutely clueless at how to set us up in this league.

Funny thing is, most here will deny the obvious signs of our season starting to go the same way it did last time in this league. Warnock should not be getting the free pass that he is from our fans.

Pretty awful from everyone in the team tonight. Half decent cameo from Zohore but poor from everyone else and Warnock. United were clinical but we are so naive. I love Warnock but he's not up to it. Saints have had a new manager bounce but I don't trust our club to unearth anyone decent

You have to admit some of United's goals were class and way to much for us.

Re: MY VIEW: THE RETURN OF SOLSKJAER, BROUGHT THE BEST OUT O

Quite frankly, we were played off the park today. Unfortunately, United scoring a goal after 3 minutes was THE WORST possible start to the game for us. After that, we were always chasing shadows.

I think NW is clueless when it comes to picking a team that has any attacking flair. I know that Hoillett has scored 2 wonderful goals recently but he's still trying to beat Premiership defenders with the moves he used in the Championship. It looks like his legs have gone.

Murphy seems the only one capable of causing problems to the opposition, whilst Patterson is a handful, he is simply not an attacker. When Zahore came on, he looked useful and surely Warnock has to look to at changing his system to balance the team between sitting back and hoping we can get a breakaway goal, to one that at least, on paper, looks like they are gunning for the opposition.

Many years ago, as a teenager, I learnt that, in order to score goals, your team has to have possession of the ball. Today, the hoof ball up the pitch attack came to nothing as we hardly won any headers. There has to be a better option.

Sad part is, I don’t think there’s anyone out there who could get us performing any better right now, mid-season. If this were at the end of the season, I’d say make the change and bring in someone who can change our approach [because this team CAN play football], but doing it now will likely just yield the same results it did last time we did it in this league.

But no, Warnock is not up to it at all. He sets us up to defend constantly, a formula that has gifted our opponents 8 goals in the last 2 games. He refuses to allow us to play football on the floor (we slip to hoof ball far too often to blame it on the players). He has ZERO Plan B in this league, which means we don’t even get the second half bounce that we got off him in the Championship after a poor first half. And he STILL has not addressed his poor substations (both in selection of them, and timing of them).

I don’t care about losing, as long as we battle. I’m not seeing that any of our recent performances, though. All I’m seeing is poor individual performances, players starting to argue with each other and blame others when goals go in, and a poor performance from our manager.

Nice finishes, but absolutely invited by us. We are playing so deep that we are allowing them to get these shots away from distance, and almost all of them are going in. And if they aren’t using our deep defence as an invitation to shoot from distance, they instead use it as an opportunity to run right through our defenders who are so deep into their own box they’re too afraid to put a tackle in and concede a penalty and/or red card.

We made the exact same defensive errors we were making against watford, and seemingly learnt NOTHING from that game.

You’ve been very outspoken about the performance of our managers in the past, Annis... surely you can’t be happy at what you’re seeing from Warnock and his coaching team right now?

We really need to learn to keep possession and pass the ball 5 yards it is getting predictable and embarrassing lately

Sat Dec 22, 2018 8:16 pm

Unfortunately with our style of play, we will never compete against teams in the top half of the table.
No ball retention and we fail to string more than 2 passes together.
Top teams use rotation and our man marking is just not the answer.

Blakey was saying the same thing, this past week on his podcast.

This even got raised by pundits and commentators when we played Man City in the cup last year. It’s too late to change such fundamental parts of our set up now though.

Warnock should have made a change at half time, there was too many of our players just not up to it today,Patterson was probably the least effective that he’s been.Zohore to start next game.
Corners and long throws were just so easy for them to defend.
Yes they looked class but we made it far to easy for them.

I see people are already saying Warnock is out of his depth again  Honestly no one else could do any better with this current team atm, and we're not even in the relegation zone atm which a miracle imo looking at the squad we have so chill. Thought Man Utd were brilliant at times and just clearly too much for us, but we have to start performing better as we've been really poor the last couple of weeks. Watford was shocking, Tonight was really poor even the win against Southampton I thought we were lucky to win that. But I still believe Warnock is the best man for the job and deserves the season whatever happens. Hopefully the players will buck their ideas up and learn to pass the ball 5 yrds and Warnock will sort it out. :bluescarf:

Gutted that we could'nt make them think they had at least been in a game. Just too good for us, but I guess thats what millions and millions of pounds gets you. Suppose when you add up the values of the two squads and compare them, the result should never have been in doubt. Still disappointed though, we looked like a Championship side playing against one of the PL big boys today. Going to be a tough few months ahead, but we are still in there with a chance.

We got pace and skill but it's not being used to max effect if anything it's being suppressed bit like josè at utd. NW seems unlikely to change a habbit of a lifetime so be prepared for things to get worse. :old:

I haven’t seen anyone say Warnock is out of his depth in this league(not on this thread anyway). But I will say one thing because he has done a great done job doesn’t mean fans can’t question one or two of his decisions.

occasionally you have to accept that you were beaten by a far superior team - this was one of those days sadly.

we caught united at the wrong time. they moved the ball about quickly and were clinical in front of goal. they got a bit of luck with the deflections but they would have won anyway. nothing to do with solksjaer - the players had downed tools under mourinho, and anyone coming in would have seen a bounce in performances and results.
