Kenneth Zohore ready to fight for Cardiff City place as January exit talk dismissed
By Tom Coleman

Wednesday 28th November 2018

The Bluebirds striker has been linked with a move away in January, but is keen to fight for his first team spot

Kenneth Zohore has no interest in leaving Cardiff City this January and is keen to fight his way back into Neil Warnock's first team plans, Wales Online has learned.

Speculation surrounding Zohore's future has intensified in recent weeks, with reports of a swoop by Turkish giants Fenerbahce ahead of a potential January move.

Other clubs will also be monitoring Zohore's situation with the Dane, a key part of the Bluebirds' promotion-winning side, not starting a first team game since the 2-1 defeat to Burnley.

He has lost his place up front to Callum Paterson, a player Warnock signed as a right-back, a situation Cardiff legend Nathan Blake believes should be an embarrassment to Zohore.

However, Zohore intends to stay in south Wales and score the goals that can keep the Bluebirds in the Premier League.

A source close to the player confirmed Zohore is fully focused on winning back his place in the Cardiff team.

That remains his entire focus, not talk of a big-money move to Turkey when the January transfer window opens in the new year.

He clearly has plenty of work to do to impress his boss, with Warnock criticising the forward on several occasions this season.

Neil Warnock has grown frustrated by Kenneth Zohore this season

The Yorkshireman stated earlier in the campaign: "He’s got to do better in training every day. He’s got to get the hunger back that he’s had."

Zohore is currently working his way back from a calf injury that has kept him out of the last three games, but will still need to produce a notable turnaround in form if he is to jump ahead of Paterson, Danny Ward and Bobby Reid in Warnock's pecking order.

While previously critical of a player he admits "should be my main man," Warnock has hinted that he has not yet closed the door on Zohore's return.

Asked about his striking options ahead of Cardiff's Friday night clash with Wolves, Warnock said: "I imagine there’ll be changes given there’s three games in eight days.

"I think it’s a reflection that I’m playing Callum Paterson up front.

"I know what he gives and he never lets me down.

"It’s how to fit others in."

After Wolves, Cardiff go to West Ham next week before hosting Southampton - three crucial games against sides in the lower half of the table they have to take points from.

Ken has had a lot of chances but never looks hungry, if he gets another one I really hope he takes it. Good luck big fella.

Smack him around the head and tell him to get his finger out of his arse or do one. No more treating him with kid gloves get him to realise how fortunate he is to be a professional footballer. I want him to do well for us but crunch time is here.

I have probably been his biggest critic on this forum. I hope he really fights for his place and the team, and proves me wrong. We desperately need someone to knock a few in for us and I would be delighted if he makes me eat my words. I would love to be able to say at the end of the season that he has made me look stupid, and I would be happy to say I was wrong. Look forward to seeing him fight for the team, and hopefully play a big part in keeping us up. Really hope my opinion of him changes over the next few months. :bluescarf:

He has to be given a run of games in that case. His injuries are a concern though.

I hope this does not stop us looking for a quality striker in january and if zohore wants to step up he's going to have a new signing as well as the other list, patters ward etc all in front of him

I don't think he is injured but it's just a case of getting his attitude and head straight.

I see him as a confidence player but that's not what we need right now so come on big Ken, sort it out for yourself and us fans

It’s now or never for him.

I think that he will come in handy next season if we were to get relegated. Having said that I'm optimistic that we will survive. :bluescarf:

He’s had plenty of chances unlike the rest of the players who give 110% he’s to lazy.

The only thing left to try with Ken is playing him with Reid or Ward in support. He is NOT a lone striker.

If that doesn't work then move on.

Annis, I wouldn't be too surprised if Neil Warnock has been looking at other options already. We cannot afford to carry any deadwood after Christmas. From that point, it's all or nothing for club and players!

Would love Kenneth Zohore to come out fighting and prove a point in the next few games though! :ayatollah:

He should play avatar Wolves but he is our main target man and the team should be selected to support him and around him , how do you expect him to fire on all cylinders when he had no one playing off him, this happened in our promotion battle, tomorrow is the ideal opportunity tomorrow against Wolves!
