Barrow 0-0 Wrexham:
Dragons draw a blank once more in frustrating stalemate
Wednesday 28th November 2018
Wrexham blooded new loan signing Bobby Reid up front, but failed to score for the second game in a row as they warmed up for Saturday’s FA Cup 2nd round home clash with Newport County.
Reid, who isn’t cup tied and was given the chance to press his claims to start against the League Two outfit, showed flashes of what he is capable of and almost got his debut off to a dream start with a header that hit the post midway through the first-half.
Playing wide on the right, he cut inside and caused the Barrow defence plenty of problems and gave manager Sam Ricketts plenty to contemplate ahead of Saturday night’s live TV cup clash.
But it was Wrexham old boy John Rooney who stood out as the most dangerous forward. He brought two great saves out of Rob Lainton in the visitors’ goal and put a header after only two minutes just over the bar.
Barrow were the more positive side in the first half, but after the break Wrexham pressed higher and harder to make life more difficult for their hosts. There were no goals in the end against a team 12 places below them in the National League and that will be Wrexham’s biggest concern.
Barrow: Dixon, Bartham, Norrington-Davies, Granite, Wilson, Jameson, Taylor, Augustein (Kay 61), Rooney, Blyth, Smith (Hindle 76).
Subs: Burgess, Sousa.
Wrexham: Lainton, Roberts, Lawlor, Pearson, Jennings, Summerfield, Walker, Young, Grant, Pyke (Rutherford 27), Beavon (Fondop 82).
Subs: Dibble, Wright, Maguire-Drew.
Referee: Matthew Dicicco (Cleveland)
Attendance: 851 (116 away)

Would love to see Wrexham back in the Welsh leagues. They have a lot of potential.

not sure you would find many Wrexham fans who would love to see them in the Welsh Leagues..
they have been playing in England longer than there has been a Welsh league...
as a side note, Worlds 3rd oldest club and the first to be expelled by an FA for...crowd trouble.

They get biggest crowds in National League, much bigger than little County up the road possible because they are the only major club in North Wales!

My best memory in 93, beat them at The Racecourse we were both going for promotion our 2.0 win was convincing Nathan Blake scored one of our goals, we had a massive following filling the away end. The whole 2nd half was non stop singing Eddie May's Blue and White army, then ohh arrh BARMY ARMY, even the Gogs claped our mob at the end, best atmosphere ever for me.Hope they return to F.L.
