Has there ever been an explanation for the standard of British officiating being so poor? Compared to other countries it seems miles behind, huge numbers of big decisions being incorrectly given each week (including our 2nd v Brighton).

Well it was definitely a penalty.
It makes me wonder how these refs make their calls. He should have been looking at who got to the ball first. It was definitely our guy first to it with their defender cutting him off in flow.
Sometimes I think referees should be made to explain their calls.

Shouldn't be too difficult to come to the right conclusion with that penalty call.
1. Did the defender get to the ball first? If yes, no penalty.
2. Did the defender make contact with the player? If yes, no penalty and yellow card attacker for diving.
3. If contact, was it unlawful? If yes, penalty.

Don’t forget in our last match we had plenty of key decisions go our way, and people on here found the ref’s mistakes funny after that particular game.
Yet today people will say he cost us the match.
Some weeks the decisions go for you, some weeks they don’t.

just like someone to explain to me how that clown of a ref can book etheridge for wasting time 30 mins into the game and then allow Jordan pickford to get away with for the last 15 mins after they scored . it's a fcking joke rules for the Welsh upstarts who dare to play in their premier league and different rules for the English gentleman that should always beat these Welsh upstarts.

Match Of The Day didn't even show a penalty incident, and post match Warnock made no mention of it (yet spoke of Harris being fouled and the incorrect thrown in decision before their goal).
Was it that obvious a penalty - i've not seen it yet.

Could someone tell me when the clear and obvious penalty happened in the game yesterday. I have watched the game (admittedly only on a small laptop in a pub full of people) and could not spot anything that remotely resembled a penalty. Thought it strange that Warnock nor the players have complained, particularly as Warnock is not usually one to hold back if he thinks we have been cheated. Also, apparently no mention of it or replays of a penalty incident on MOTD. They normally like to get their teeth into moments of controversy.

Cheers Lawnmower. Had actually already seen that and me and some of the boys us watching it did'nt think that was a clear cut penalty. Not much of an appeal from any City players, and no mention of it from Warnock. However, the throw in shortly before their goal was a different matter. I think the reaction of our players said it all, and there is no doubt that the ref got that one wrong. We still had plenty of time to defend from that point, especially as the throw was deep in Everton's half.

For me Cunningham has touched the ball on and Coleman has taken him out due to getting there late.
I can’t see an argument for not giving it to be honest apart from the fact the ref didn’t give Everton a pen for a much weaker shout in the first half

The key to making the decision is the movement of the ball.
The defender clearly did not make contact with the ball as Cunningham got there first, but he did (however slight) made contact with Cunningham.
100% penalty.
Perhaps if we had been Liverpool, Citie, Utd or Chelsea then the ref would have given it.
We move on though. Bamba was not sent off for his goal line handball clearance...

Perhaps VAR would have resulted in something different. The only time you will ever see that sort of challenge result in a penalty is if the victim is a Man C, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool player. Did see a blatant penalty waived away on MOTD last night. Can't remember which game, may have been West Ham.

First time I've seen it. Definite penalty. If it's down the other end be given without a shadow of doubt. Just unlucky. We had enough decent chances there to score 1. An unlucky day. Keep battling. We'll get points away playing like that.

I was right in line with it and it from where I was it looked like the clear cut penalty. Couldn't believe it when ref didn't give it. Yet no mention on MOD apparently and haven't heard anything from Warnock. I haven't seen it again so maybe I was wrong but even if wasn't surely it was very very close and worth showing on MOD.

Did you not read my OP? I referenced that error.

VAR wouldn't have led to Bamba being sent off though, it would've seen Vardy was offside.

Not talking about you specifically, mainly the people who are saying the referee cost us the match.

Well he did, they're not wrong.
