Mick McCarthy is open to a return to the role of Republic of Ireland manager, Sky Sports News understands.

McCarthy left Ipswich last summer after five and a half years at Portman Road and we understand he feels a return to the Republic of Ireland would be a great next move for him.
He previously managed them between 1996 and 2002 and took them to their last World Cup in 2002.

He's turned down offers from Qatar and China in recent months.
