Neil Warnock says it was a 'surreal' week before Cardiff faced Leicester
NEIL WARNOCK:

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock says he couldn't fault his side's effort after a 'surreal' week
SKY SPORTS
Saturday 3rd November 2018
Neil Warnock said he could not fault Cardiff's effort as they lost 1-0 at home against Leicester following a "surreal" week.
The match was Leicester's first since the death of club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people in a helicopter crash last weekend.
There were tributes ahead of the match and Cardiff supporters passed a Thai flag with crests of both clubs into the away end.
Cardiff 0-1 Leicester
Cardiff did not create much during the match and Demarai Gray's 55th-minute goal for the Foxes proved to be the difference.
NEIL WARNOCK:
"It was a strange afternoon," Warnock told Sky Sports. "It has been all week, surreal almost.
"I'm disappointed with the result as I thought the lads gave everything. I thought we started well but one or two decisions didn't go our way. Just before the goal I thought there was a foul on (Josh) Murphy and he has been giving fouls like that all afternoon. The lads gave everything, it's just that bit of quality in the final third."
"It was never going to be a classic with the circumstances but I thought they did well and I can't fault the effort."
Cardiff were looking to record back-to-back home wins after beating Fulham 4-2 in their last outing at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Although they were beaten, Warnock paid tribute to his club and the way the supporters handled themselves.
"It's an amazing club," he said. "We knew we shouldn't be in the Premier League really but they have just got behind us and it's been fantastic. They are driving us on.
"We haven't got the result today but they will be back next week and hopefully there will be nothing other than a football match."

But we are in the Premier League !

Unfortunately Vincent tied not one but both hands behind NW back with his budget.
Sun Nov 04, 2018 10:05 am
Unfortunately Neil pissed away a 36 million budget not tan
Sun Nov 04, 2018 10:47 am
Is this a bit of a dig on Warnocks very low budget? Hmmmm ???
Sun Nov 04, 2018 10:52 am
Amazing comments as NW has wasted millions on Madine and Tomlin. That's ok we will ignore that is it ? Warnock clearly thought his players were better than they are. FFS we only got After and Camarasa on deadline day. Imagine where we would be without them ?

'Gave Everything', must have watched a different game to me.

We all know Warnock wasn't given much of a budget but he should have addresed the obvious positions first. We were desperate for a right back so he bought another left back (who can't even get in the team) and plays Manga out of position at right back, a blind man could see how desperate we were in the summer for a striker, what happens?? he doesn't buy one and instead plays a converted right back (patterson) to midfield up front on his own, absolute madness.

You win some and lose some on transfers
Arter and Camarasa have been brilliant.
I think Reid and Murphy two young pacy players have been good acquisitions too. They will be even better in the championship.
NW constantly talking us down, saying we are small, we didn't expect to be here,we just hear to make up the numbers is getting on my tits.
What is he trying to do? excuse his poor performances?
Sun Nov 04, 2018 11:25 am
Small budget has to be spent well...did we need a new goalkeeper? Did we need a left back? Did we need Bobby Ried?
Did we need a twenty million pound plus striker.... yes we did. But NW Said we didn't have the money!
Paid £6m on Madine , never starts and has successfully turned the fans against him despite never having a run in the team always preferring Zahore
What Cardiff fan would have put Hoilett on as sub yesterday? But NW says he's terrific..
What Cardiff fan thinks Manga is a right back? ....But NW says we haven't got anyone else.
The only real prem experienced player we had start of the season is Tomlin, who doesn't get in the squad...but NW says we lack prem experience.
Gives Connelly a squad place but clearly has seen better playing days.
When Arter a midfielder is out injured he plays out of form Hoilett a winger in his place and keeps Demour an obvious replacement on the bench.
I think we should challenge/ query some of the decisions our manager makes without calling for his head. But while we ask for players to raise there game so should our manager .

Very good post in my opinion and whilst I truly believe Tan should shoulder much of the blame, you have made me rethink a lot. Very insightful if I may say so Sloper

What a load of tosh.....Mr Warnock .
We deserve to be in the Premiership we are there on merit second in the league , in the top 3 for the majority of last season ,all credit to you and the club ,so stop making excuses and dumbing us down it’s getting boring
We are bigger than Bournemouth ,Huddersfield , Burnley , Watford and a few others so big us up the negativity and mind games are starting to wear thin .

Several good points but a few are incorrect.
Junior was played on the wing to replace arter, who moved to the middle.
Junior was an inspiration last season, I really dont kno w what's happened this year tho.
We all know Manga is no right back but we have Peltier and Jazz both injured.
The transfer policy leaves a lot to be desired.
Smithies , great keeper but really needed?
Cunningham another good player but just a squad player at present.
Reid, where was he really going to play, too small to play up front in his own.
As Nathan Blake said , did we buy what we needed or what we wanted for the squad.
NW recently said he was drinking when he compared Van Dyk to Sol.
I think he definitely was when he purchased Marine.

Getting sick of Warnock talking us down all the time, to be honest. I’m fine with a relegation battle, and watching us lose each week if that’s ultimately the case, but I’m not fine with this guy’s comments about our squad and their abilities each week.
As for transfer budgets, Warnock can’t blame anyone but himself for any failures in this area, and that was there for all to see yesterday when he brought on bloody Madine to try and get us a goal yesterday. Give me a break.
Sun Nov 04, 2018 2:03 pm
I don’t think the players gave everything yesterday, which is the first time this season, I have felt that. I still don’t understand why Tomlin isn’t in the squad of 25, I accept his attitude stinks but he’s a better bet than some of the players who are included and perhaps, and it’s a big perhaps, if he was getting some game time, he might improve. We need something extra, over and above the effort we put in most games, but after the loss yesterday, it could be over before the transfer window.

I think that Mr Warnock was watching this game through rose tinted glasses. He should have watched this game from the stands. We were dire. To be honest I am fed up of his usual comments we were unlucky, the lads gave it everything Did they? His Management skills at this level are now showing for him to say we should'nt be in the Premier league. What does that tell you. His transfers in no striker no right back( he buys a left back)
No doubt Saturday Brighton will be shaking in their boots to meet this formidable side!!!!!!

So if Joe bennet got injured or suspended who would we play left back?

I like Neil Warnock and would keep him as manager as the best person to get as back up next season. That said his signings where we have spent money have been alamost entirely useless. Madine and Tomlin have were rubbish signings most people thought Madine was a panic buy and a waste is £6 million and they were right. Going into this season we have spent money on a goalkeeper who is worse than the one we have a full back who is worse than the one we have and a striker who might be good if we played him as a striker but who we are using as a utility midfiede where he is ineffective.
Maybe we need to go down the route where a committe decides who we sign rather than the manager. I don't trust Neil Warnock to spend money anymore.
Sun Nov 04, 2018 2:41 pm
I think a lot of people are taking this out of context, to be honest.
The way I read this was that NW was speaking in reference to the fans who were a credit to the club on what was a tough occasion because of the circumstances.
All I understood him to be saying was that realistically no-one would have expected us to have gone up last season and it's given us a hell of a job to now try and compete at the top table but we are giving it everything we have and the fans are helping the players dig in that little deeper and spurring them on to even greater achievements.
Nout wrong with that assessment in my eyes.
Sun Nov 04, 2018 4:51 pm
warnock's been great, but i wish he'd shut up about us not being a premier league team - it's november and we are. it can't help our situation to constantly remind people that we didnt expect to be here.
Sun Nov 04, 2018 6:36 pm
When he bought Cunningham, we had Bennett, Richards, Peltier,Connelly , Manga? Who could play full back. Injuries came after the purchase. I would also suggest he gives a youth a chance once in a while.

TOMLINS prem experience was a 6 game long weapons grade mistake by Eddie Howe who quickly got shot of him..

6 more than anyone else. I like him, would have got in most city sides over the years. He would have been more useful than Damore or Conelly in the squad as they rarely play. I would put pilkington and Tomlin in before those two.

Pilkington has more Premier League experience than anyone on our books. He has played 75 games at that level scoring 14 goals. He can play on the wing, in midfield and striker. He did well last season on the rare occasions he was given a chance. Unlike Tomlin he is a good pro too. God knows why he isn't in the squad instead of some of the dross we have.

you like him...well its certainly not based on performances for us...

if its quite a few then why does warnock say we lack Prem experiance?
Mon Nov 05, 2018 9:44 pm
You have to be picked to say someone is crap...Cardiff fans always judge players who only play bit parts in a game/season ..
