I started a long time before that, and I could select a great team if you'd asked for my favourite players, but if I'm honest - because of improved fitness and the speed of the game today -it'd just be the current team.
Some of the very recent ones who you've listed would cope , but our most heroic and iconic players,( who I won't name in this context) would be left standing on the spot by the slowest man in today's team.

I saw my first City game in 1950 against Manchester City, and I have been hooked ever since. Some of my favourite players that haven’t been mentioned yet are:- Alf Sherwood (Stanley Matthews very rarely played a league match at the City because of Alf), Stan Montgomery, George Edwards, Mike Tiddy, Ron Howells (Welsh International goalkeeper), Peter Rodrigues, Barrie Hole,Don Murray, Danny Malloy, Doug Livermore, Colin Baker, Leighton Phillips, Mel Sutton, Bobby Woodruff, Roger Gibbins, Johnny Watkins, Dougy Blair, Alan Harrington, Chris Pike, Graham Vearnecombe, Danny Gabbidon,Bobby Brown and Gary Bennett- all very good players. My team from that squad using the old WW formation would have been:-
Howells
Rodrigues Sherwood
Bennett Malloy Hole
Blair Phillips
Tiddy Brown Watkins

Marshall
Manga Morrison Bamba Fabio
Gunnerson Patterson Mendez-Laing
Matts Moller Daehli
Kenneth Zohore Bellamy
Kenwyne Jones
Craig Noone
Peter Whittingham
Neil Etheridge
Gary Medel
Joe Bennett
Victor Camarasa
Marko Grujic
Juan Cala
I know most of my picks including the bench might be very polarising. But I get quickly attached to a player. Zohore & Daehli for example, a couple of amazing runs or bits of brilliance makes it hard for them to undo my feelings toward them. I’ll always love watching Zohore play, can’t help it.
