Leicester inspired or affected?

NEIL WARNOCK:

“I don’t know what to expect, that’s the honest answer to the question. You’d probably have to ask me after the game. I haven’t got a clue what to expect.”

Play the game as normal?

NEIL WARNOCK:

“I’d like to say yes but I just don’t know. I can’t really give you an idea. We’ve prepared as well as we can but until the game kicks off and I see how it develops I don’t know what’s going to happen on the pitch.”

Any effect on Cardiff players?

NEIL WARNOCK:

“It’s strange as we haven’t been directly involved with everything but the feeling is that we are directly involved. Sean Morrison had a couple of meetings with me about the players making sure everything is appropriate with the Leicester players."

“There will be tributes, our chairman wanted to do a tribute from Vincent and everyone at the club, we’ll be having the minute’s silence together, the chairman is going to lay a wreath and there will be moments to reflect for everyone."

“And then somehow the two teams have got to get on with a game of football. It’s an important game for us and Leicester but it is a game of football. It seems irrelevant talking about the game compared to the bigger things that have happened this week.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

On Leicester playing for first time since tragedy

“It was surreal last weekend, we were just landing from Liverpool - we flew to Liverpool - and the news came round and it was just an eerie situation for everyone. I’ve not really felt like that before."

"Our players were visibly shocked. It was a hell of a day for me what with Glenn Hoddle earlier in the day. Life is on such a slender edge and you sometimes take things for granted. I know it’s just a football match and it puts things into perspective, promotion and relegation and all that."

"I think if I’d been the manager of Leicester, I’d have wanted the lads to play to get their mind on other things because it’s such a turmoil. The whole football community have felt the shock and everything that’s gone with it.”

A united atmopshere

Neil Warnock:

“We’ve seen all the comments from fans, people in charge of supporters groups, and they feel the same. It could have been any of us. I think it will be a strange atmosphere before kick off and nobody knows what sort of game it will be.”

Injury update

NEIL WARNOCK:

“We’ve only got a couple of injury problems, Harry Arter is back, Jazz Richards isn’t going to make it this week but Aron Gunnarsson is back. We’ve got a decent squad with Harry back - fortunately this week he hasn’t got booked in training."

“In different circumstances we’d be really looking forward to it but it’s difficult for fans and supporters. Our fans will be fantastic and it will be quite emotional for our fans, they’re good people."

"Things like like unite supporters and bring us together. It’s good to see both sets of supporters being how they are”

On decision to play

NEIL WARNOCK:

“We just made sure they knew whatever they wanted to do, we would support. Players, staff, management, owners - whatever they decided to do tribute-wise, we wanted to agree to that. It doesn’t surprise me as that’s the kind of club we are.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

A tough week for football

“I met him, I’m aware of what he’s done for the club, it’s well known that it’s a really good family club. I can imagine the support that the players and families have given him.
“It’s the one miracle of football what they achieved, everybody would doubt anything like that being possible and it was a miracle that they went on to win the league."

“But it was around the club that things were changed, Leicester City became united. A lot of owners get criticised but he’s gone about his business trying to make it a family club and helping around the city as well. It was a tremendous achievement and that’s what made it even more of a shock to everyone.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Ever been in a situation like this before?

“You get so many things thrown at you as a football manager but they pale into insignificance compared to life. We’ve all had things happen in the family but tragedies like this hit home about what’s important in life. It is only a game of football and you can’t push this under the carpet.”

Warnock initially didn't want game to go ahead

NEIL WARNOCK:

“It’s like everything else in life, some lads can cope with tragedies and some find it difficult. It has not been straightforward this week, I haven’t had a week like it. Originally I didn’t think the game will go ahead and if I’m honest I didn’t want it to, it was so emotional. But now I agree with the decision, it’s good to get back to normality.”

Difficult to focus on the game?

NEIL WARNOCK:

“Yesterday was an important day training wise and we had to remind them that it’s an important game because Leicester are a good side. How they didn’t beat Arsenal I don’t know. You take the top 4 or 5 out of the decision and Leicester comes to mind as the next best.”

:bluescarf: :bluescarf: ' CARDIFF FANS & LEICESTER FANS BEFORE SATURDAYS GAME WILL TOGETHER DO A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THOSE THAT DIED IN THE HELICOPTER CRASH ' :bluescarf: :blue scarf:

The flag will bear the Cardiff and Leicester club logos, the Thailand flag and the words 'R.I.P Vichai'. It will be held by Bluebirds fans as the players walk out of the tunnel, before making its way into the away end.

Cardiff have promised to do everything they can to be supportive of Leicester and this is part of the exercise on behalf of the fans.

There will be a minute's silence before kick-off and the Cardiff players will wear black armbands of their own in a tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha.

What Claude Puel said

This is what he said at his press conference yesterday:

“I think the game is not important,
The result is not important. Our desire and action, and our pride to give our best on the pitch, to honour our chairman is the most important thing."

"When I saw my players in training, they can give their best. After a few minutes, they are focused on the football on the pitch. I hope we can have just have this feeling during the game."
"We have a responsibility about his memory. It was first the words of Kasper (Schmeichel): we have responsibility to continue this way.”

Match facts Cardiff City v Leicester City

Cardiff have lost just one of their last six meetings with Leicester in all competitions (W2 D3), with this their first match since March 2013 (1-1 in the Championship).

Leicester have won their last three top-flight meetings with Cardiff, by an aggregate score of 10-0. However, this is the first such meeting since April 1962 (Cardiff 0-4 Leicester).

Cardiff are unbeaten in four home games against Leicester in all competitions (W1 D3), since a 2-3 defeat in the 2009-10 Championship play-offs.

Cardiff are looking to secure consecutive home top-flight wins in the same season for the first time since their last two home matches in the 1961-62 campaign.
