Arrangements from Cardiff City FC for Saturday fixture against Leicester;

Vince Alm:

As the players walk out the tunnel the attached 30x8m flag will be surfed up the Ninian stand between blocks 114 and 116 from pitchside to the back; it will then be surfed towards the Leicester supporters across 116,117 until reaching 118 & 119 where

Leicester city supporters, and stewards will take the flag from Cardiff supporters and surf the flag into the Leicester fans to hold a loft during the minute silence as we pay our respect.

We urge everyone who is attending the match to take their seats early for the tribute to start and receive the flag in the Ninian stand.

Leicester City supporters are planning their own tributes during the game which you are welcome to join in with.

Im sorry but its absolutely ridiculous asking Cardiff fans to pass a flag along like that. I am all for the minutes silence and black arm bands but that's it . This is madness.

Actually I think flags/banners are fine. Singing songs or not celebrating if we score or what ever it was, was over the top. But minute silence and a flag is fine.

Cardiff City fans to parade flag in memory of Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha

By Callum Ellis

Thursday 1st November 2018

Cardiff City fans will parade a flag ahead of their clash with Leicester City at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Bluebirds faithful will join the away side in a special tribute to Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha who died, along with four others, in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium.

Fans who are attending the clash in the Welsh capital are encouraged to get to the stadium early to join in the pre-match tribute to the Thai owner.

A flag will be displayed in the home end ahead of kick-off, before passing it over to the travelling supporters.

Head of Cardiff City Supporters Club, Vince Alm, said: “As the players walk out the tunnel the attached 30x8m flag will be surfed up the Ninian stand between blocks 114 and 116 from pitchside to the back.

“It will then be surfed towards the Leicester supporters across 116,117 until reaching 118 & 119 where Leicester city supporters, and stewards will take the flag from Cardiff supporters and surf the flag into the Leicester fans to hold aloft during the minute silence as we pay our respect.

“We urge everyone who is attending the match to take their seats early for the tribute to start and receive the flag in the Ninian stand.”

I am sure our fans will take part in this.

Totally agree, this disturbs me. It was exactly the same when Diana died.

The truly wonderful flag tribute Cardiff City fans have revealed they will pay to Leicester City's tragic owner -

By Matthew Southcombe

Friday 2nd November 2018

Cardiff City fans will join with Leicester City by paying a wonderful tribute to the Foxes' owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha on Saturday.

Bluebirds Supporters Club official Vince Alm has revealed that a special flag will be surfed up the Ninian Stand and passed over for the Leicester fans to hold during the minute's silence before the Premier League clash.

The flag will bear the Cardiff and Leicester club logos, the Thailand flag and the words 'R.I.P Vichai'. It will be held by Bluebirds fans as the players walk out of the tunnel, before making its way into the away end.

Cardiff have promised to do everything they can to be supportive of Leicester and this is part of the exercise on behalf of the fans.

There will be a minute's silence before kick-off and the Cardiff players will wear black armbands of their own in a tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha.

The Thai billionaire was involved in the tragic helicopter accident last weekend following Leicester's 1-1 draw against West Ham.

Leicester's Carabao Cup tie against Southampton, that was scheduled to take place earlier this week, was cancelled.

However, the Premier League clash in the Welsh capital goes ahead after Leicester's players said they wanted to fulfil the fixture.

Cardiff's fans will give Leicester a warm ovation and the unfurling of the flag right at the start is a special part of that.

Hi
Leicester fan here who will be at the game on Saturday and whilst it's a nice touch from Cardiff city I can't help thinking it's a bit OTT. By all means have a minutes silence etc but come kickoff it's up to the fans to get behind their respective team as I'm both sets of fans will.

Great gesture and a great way to show our respect for Leicesters tragedy and as it's before kick off we can then put our efforts into supporting our bluebirds when the whistle blows :bluescarf:

Yes it's easy to criticise from the outside but this is the sort of 'grand gesture' that isn't needed imo.

They should have made two flags, both should have had all 5 victims name on it. One could have been held up in the away end and one in the home end during a minutes silence.

Having Cardiff fans 'Surfing it' to be passed onto Leicster fans is just a 'look at me, look at me' stunt.

There's no need for it at all. Keep it simple, keep it real, keep it respectful.

I think it’s a great gesture. Can’t believe some are moaning. This is a thank you and tribute for all the good work he’s done for Leicester City. The others won’t be forgotten and will be remembered by the one they lives touched. Or do we start do tributes for every body that sadly passes who’s slightly related to a football club. They remember him for the work he did for football.

I wonder if the horrible woman that was in the home end in their ground, just a couple of metres away from my wife and me last time I went there, will stop for one day only, calling us f*cking sheep shagging wankers? Will she stop frothing at the mouth due to her hatred of the Welsh f*cking scum? I doubt it.
It was a tragedy, but for fucks sake Leicester fans aren't our friends all of a sudden!

I was disappointed with their chants during the game especially the one to Etheridge taking his goal kicks... All just a bit immature and unnecessary.

Been to many games in emotional circumstances where the fans of both clubs show respect to each other. This didn't happen today which is disappointing.

I feel CCFC and our fans have been very honourable and thoughtful throughout the scenario so not to have that appreciated leaves a little bit of a sour taste.

Not my sort of people or my sort of club that so glad to get that out of the way and move on.
