It seems more & more players are going into last year of contracts, the obvious benefits are you negotiate a signing on fee which can be worth a lot more mixed in with wages than if player is sold and just negotiate wages..

Will be interesting to see if anybody voices as to why Arsenal removes the offer, sounds to me like the deal he was offered was lass than the one he’s currently on, I know he’s had personal worries with his wife and newborns towards the end of her pregnancy but that wouldn’t stop him accepting and signing a new contract, also now gives Arsenal the option to sell him in January and try and get some decent money for him

The £10m fee is not the issue. It’s the £150k + a week he’s going to want over 3+ years - 5 times as much as anyone else in the club.

What are you on about?? Arsenal owe him nothing more, they've paid his wages and stood by him during his constant injury problems.
I know he's one of our own and we're biased, but let's be honest, he's not as valuable as we think he is. He has no set position; He lacks the discipline to play a deeper role, yet isnt consistant or creative enough to hold down an attacking position. Apart from his one break out season, he always gets injured before finding any consistent form. He can't get in this arsenal team right now, so why should they pay his high wages when the money could go towards somebody that fits emerys system better.
