' Stewarding Shocking away at Anfield '

Lee Beames:

I spoke to Wayne Nash and told him that the stewarding was nothing short of shocking,

The whole match stewards were moving people to different seats constantly spoiling our view.

The Liverpool stewards Virtually went into panic every time a goal went in. They were running back on for in front of the Cardiff fans as if the whole end is going to invade the pitch.

Total lack of leadership and communication between both sets of stewards. It’s quite clear that they build a stadium which can look fabulous from the inside but when you go down into the concourse areas they clearly have not taken into account the amount of people or added people that are in those areas.

It took 20 minutes to go back and forth to the toilet At half-time . Once again I thought the Cardiff fans were brilliant but having to put up with Liverpool fans in the Cardiff end is starting to become a real problem for the away fans.

Billy Aitken:

Didn’t help that the police created a line on the concourse and threw out a few who dared try and cross it at half time. The whole police/steward situation was appalling I was in block 123 and it was rammed you couldn’t move. I went for a piss mid way through first half and they wouldn’t let me back up to join the boys I was with had to watch it down the front. I know away days you stand where you want but yesterday was just shocking.

Always the same there Lee in the away end

Ashley Davies:

Lee Beames horrific in there, I couldn’t imagine if someone fell ill. There were old people falling down the rows, stewards shouting for help but there was nobody forthcoming. There genuinely seemed 3 people for every seat, how a partial crush didn’t happen I’ll never know.

Worst stewarding I have ever seen at an away ground, no comprehension of the fact that fans going down to the concourse at half time would be using the same narrow exits as those making their way back up, absolute nightmare and I won't be returning there anytime soon unless something is done to improve it. :bluescarf:

Some are blaming city fans for not sitting on correct seats? But I was in block 124 row 31 very top and only 3 stewards in that block to show fans where their seat was with 2 at entrance and 2 as you entered bowl and no police! Totally inadequate for 3k fans, but ultimately it's the job of stewards to show fans to the row they are in and for the 2 at entrance to make sure fans didn't enter 124 when should been in 123 which they blatantly didn't do, I certainly won't go there again absolutel crap experience for me and other half. :old:

The away end was too crowded, I could barely see and it would have been very easy for someone to go flying if they tripped. There were sections of 4/5 empty seats however, and had people sat where they were meant to be sat, it wouldn't have been as dangerous.

It's up to the stewards to police this when away ends are sold out and leg room is limited, but we also have to take responsibility and not contribute to dangerous situations.

yes there were lots of empty seats by me towards the back of the block nearest their new stand..

that stand is old has poor facilities which they can do little about......but is full every week, not just the away bit either as their fans to our left have exactly the same to contend with week in week out..

don't get it either, was exactly the same as our last visit ..yes its a bit small but our fans have no interest in sitting in their seats so live with it..
my only other visit there was on the kop for Wales Scotland....100 times worse and most of these moaners would have had nervous break downs before a ball was kicked....stewards ?..there were no fecking stewards...or police that were in any sort of position to do anything..

What on earth are you on about?

Unless you've forgotten, it was overcrowding and lack of policing that led to a very famous disaster. I'd like to think, given what we know as a result of Hillsborough, that people would have nervous breakdowns if there was a situation like on the Kop in 1977.

How can you possibly have an issue with people being worried about getting seriously injured, when we know the dangers of overcrowding? People just want everyone to be safe!

It’s not just Liverpool it’s been like it for years no ones cried about till now. It’s no different in most of the home enclosures at Anfield.

Well it was clearly dangerous. We've had reports of elderly men falling down rows. I don't see why some people have a problem with not wanting elderly men falling down rows?

there were more seats than fans in that end..and that ground hosts games with the same amount of away fans 25 times a year with far less incident and also has a home ajoining section identical in size...nobody WANTS old blokes falling but nobody wants to blame our fans either...people want to put standing with mates instead of sitting in correct seats over safety and then blame the host club, the police and its stewards...was my 4th away this year and yet to get my reserved seat...peoplke stood in aisles at bournemouth and chelsea..rightly or wrongly like most i accept thats how it is and has been for the bigger games with us as long as its been all seater stadiums
