Leicester tribute

Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:37 pm

What do you think City should do on the weekend v Leicester to pay respect to their owner, would it be possible to have a 'Mosaic' tribute around the entire ground ? We'll be under the spotlight so need to do something.

as said by others in other posts. we dont need to do any more than take direction from Leicester. i doubt there will be more than a minutes silence really.

We could have some blue and white cards in the canton end spelling
L.C.F.C. to hold up.

I find that odd if I'm honest.

I'd find out if the game is on first.

Nothing to do with me, looking at the post on facebook it’s more to do with the company and a person called Leicester Dave Welsh and a few others, just passing on what I’ve read so others on here are aware that ‘if’ the game does go ahead on Saturday there will be 2 banners

A minutes silence or applause and that's it.

Agreed. I certainly won't be chanting with Leicester during or before the game.

Pay our respects then turn the ccs into a cauldron again. We've got 3 points to get.

Whilst I agree we should show respect, and indeed it was an awful thing to happen, I don't think anything more than a minutes show of respect is appropriate, he seemed a nice man but nice men die every day. Sorry. If it was Tan the media wouldn't be going so overboard. Just my opinion. I've seen all sorts of things online as if people actually knew the man.

We could hold our scarves up on 60 mins and sing the welsh national anthem

Dear me I hope this flag doesn’t happen. This is not about us, it’s about Leicester City. Piggy backing on others grief is completely inappropriate. As others have said, respect the minutes silence and that’s it.

Not having a go at you butt, not even at those whose idea it is, each to their own, not for me, over the top that.

Before kick off we (the club) should do what ever Leicester have asked, and we (the fans) should show and pay our respect to it. That way we have done the right thing.

Once the first ball is kicked it’s business as usual and to be honest I’d think that would be what Leicester city players and fans will expect, and want, a chance to get back to normal.

It is tragic, it has shocked the football world and the fairytale he gave Leicester will live on as one of footballs greatest moments for all football fans, and I say that as 99% of them/us were behind them and wanted them to win the league. However, I want 3 points, we need 3pts and as long as the club and fans are respectful up until kick off we will have done it right.

We don’t need to sing their songs, wave their flags, they will do that, we will make it a great atmosphere and pay a great tribute by doing what we have done best all season. Be ourselves no matter what the score and support our team. As long as we don’t have any trouble on the day the football world will for once see us for what we are. Great fans following a great club, football fans standing together but supporting our respective clubs.

Usually agree with posts like this.

But they deserve a lot more then that.

Other posters are right though this is about Leicester not us if they decide to do something then the whole ground should join in with them.

Hello all,

Unfortunately I'm not going to the game, but thought I'd advise a few things that Leicester fans are mentioning may happen. Totally understand that it is all down to personal preference, but I'm sure if any Cardiff fans wish to join in, I'm sure it will be welcomed.

Firstly, there is talk that during the silence, all Leicester fans will stand arm-in-arm.

There is also some mention that, both before the game and in the 60th minute, Leicester fans will hold their scarves aloft and sing "When You're Smiling" (the one made famous by Louis Armstrong), as this is our sort-of unofficial anthem. It is often rushed through when sung, so don't expect anything as rousing as "You'll Never Walk Alone", but it does feel quite poignant.

I suppose, as I've made myself a representative of the club on here, I ought to thank you all on behalf of the club for your kind words. I know many didn't really know who he was, but to see how many people have been touched by his passing is quite emotional.

I apologise if this sounds in the least bit patronising (honestly, no offence is meant in the slightest), but I know that Cardiff as a club have had run-ins with your owner, so it may be difficult to appreciate just how much Khun Vichai and his family mean to Leicester City. But Vichai was Leicester City. As I wrote in his book of Condolences last night, he joined our family and welcomed us all into his. He became the father figure we didn't know that we needed. He made all of our wildest dreams come true.

Good luck for Saturday, and I hope that it is a fitting occasion to honour such a generous man's life.

Great post, I am sure many will join in. Nothing to do with football, just out of respect. Good luck to both teams.
