Hoilett

Sat Oct 27, 2018 3:53 pm

Can’t work out why Hoilett started the game today. Surely playing a rampant Liverpool team we needed strengthening in the middle of the park. Paterson in midfield with Zohore up top or Damour may have helped a little. Seems a strange one.

Agreed. Strange one...maybe too much loyalty.Hoillet has not (as yet) made the step up. Using Damour would also have allowed Camerassa to be more consructive.
Today confirmed that while Camerassa is very good going forward he is weak in defensive duties.

For me it was an exercise in damage limitation, which ultimately failed.

Well it's simply because Harry Arter was injured and if you'd have pulled Patterson back into the midfield we'd have had no scoring possibilities at all.
The best possibility of providing Patterson with opportunities was fast breakaways up the wings and hence Hoilett and Murphy.

Can't really understand how he could have made any other selection really .

Junior, not sure what has happened to him.
Certainly off form at the moment

Arter wasn't injured,he's on 4 bookings and we need him for Leicester.

The insistence of sticking with certain players is beyond, hoilett is way short of confidence there are better. I am not sure what he brought to our game today and I was very surprised to see him wandering around as he does. Bamba is another who seemingly will start no matter how badly he plays and maybe this is where Warnock is deserving of some of the criticism he gets.

That said it’s a game that today is now out of the way! Results around went as we’d want and now we get a run of fixtures we can pick up points hopefully.

If we can stay in the race and we can add 3-4 good options including a striker, central midfielder and centre half I think we will stay up!

I would move manga back into the centre, he always reads the game better in cutting out through balls.
Jazz to RB.

Almost wish he had gotten a cheeky yellow last couple of minutes last week.

Didn’t he set up our goal?

You may be right, but it was widely reported in the press that he was injured. Do you know that or is that an opinion ?

Yes this my view as stated many times (sad case).
We need more pace at the centre of defence. I think that prob Morrison and Bamba are both great leaders and imp for team spirit, but against smaller quicker attackers they fall short. It has to be one of the other against SOME teams. jazz is a good player and him and Cunningham need to be options.
Also I understand not playing Arter on 4 yellows but Damour was a logical replacement not an off form Hoillet. Anyway onwards and upwards.

Hoilett wasn't bad today. Certainly put a shift in. But He's not in our best XI anymore. The team that played Fulham needs to start next week.

Trouble is JH is completely one footed which was great when he played on the left as he could play inside towards other players rather than having to ‘go outside’ while playing on the right to accommodate JMon the left. Unfortunately JH has lost that couple of terms of pace to allow him to play as a winger. That’s my opinion anyway.

I’d like Murphy on the right. He scored a worldy v Villa last year with his left after cutting in from the right.

That’s a good call Mac.
