The Bluebirds have been boosted by the return of Harry Arter for the clash with Leicester.

Central midfielder Arter missed the 4-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last time out but is set to start against the Foxes.

Aron Gunnarsson is also available for selection, although Jazz Richards will miss out, along with long-term absentees Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Lee Peltier.

As for the visitors, they will be without Daniel Amartey who underwent ankle surgery after being carried off the pitch on a stretcher late on in his side's 1-1 draw with West Ham last time out.

Centre-back Wes Morgan is available although Matty James - who is yet to play for the Foxes this season - will not feature despite returning to training this week following a long-term Achilles problem.

About Leicester City

Leicester City Football Club is an English professional football club based in Leicester. The club competes in the Premier League, England's top division of football, and plays its home games at the King Power Stadium.

The club was founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse F.C., playing on a field near Fosse Road. They moved to Filbert Street in 1891, were elected to the Football League in 1894 and adopted the name Leicester City in 1919. They moved to the nearby Walkers Stadium in 2002, which was renamed the King Power Stadium in 2011.

Leicester won the 2015–16 Premier League, their first top-level football championship. They are one of only six clubs to have won the Premier League since its inception in 1992. A number of newspapers described Leicester's title win as the greatest sporting shock ever, considering at the start of the season they were favourites to face relegation. Multiple bookmakers had never paid out at such long odds for any sport. As a result, the team was dubbed "The Unbelievables", a spin-off hearkening back to Arsenal's undefeated team "The Invincibles". The club's previous highest ever finish was second place in the top flight, in 1928–29, then known as Division One. Throughout Leicester's history, they have spent all but one season in the top two leagues of English football. They hold a joint-highest seven second-tier titles (six Second Division and one Championship).

The club have been FA Cup finalists four times, in 1948–49, 1960–61, 1962–63 and 1968–69. This is a tournament record for the most defeats in the final without having won the competition. Leicester have several promotions to their name, two play-off final wins, and one League One title. In 1971, they won the FA Community Shield, and in 2016, they were runners-up. The club have won the League Cup three times in 1964, 1997 and 2000, as well as being runners-up in 1965 and 1999. Leicester City have also competed in European football, featuring in the 1961–62 European Cup Winners' Cup, 1997–98 UEFA Cup, 2000–01 UEFA Cup, and most recently the 2016–17 UEFA Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals of the competition in that year.

Previous Meeting

We last played Leicester City in March 2013, this was in the season in which we were first promoted to the Premier League ever. It was a fixture in the Championship at the Cardiff City Stadium. Michael Keane opened the scoring for the visitors in the second half, before Rudy Gestede sealed a point for the Bluebirds in the final minutes.

There’s always a possibility that the game may be postponed. If funerals are scheduled around then.

If it is confirmed that the owner has died i can see this being postponed aswell.

They have cancelled two games today already regarding the womens and u23 team.

I guess it will be up to leicester themselves whether they want to play it or not and im sure everyone would understand if they dont

Cardiff City offer Leicester City full support as fans wait to hear if Saturday's scheduled Premier League game goes ahead -

CARDIFF CITY FC

Sunday 28th October 2018

Cardiff City have offered their full and unequivocal support to Leicester City as they wait to see if Saturday's scheduled Premier League clash in the Welsh capital will go ahead.

The Bluebirds will talk to their Leicester counterparts following the helicopter tragedy involving Foxes owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, which crashed outside the King Power Stadium after Saturday's game against West Ham.

Leicester are due to host Southampton in the League Cup on Tuesday night, but that tie seems certain to be called off.

Leicester Women's Championship clash with Manchester United, which was scheduled for the King Power Stadium on Sunday, was postponed, while the ladies reserve league match against Derby was also called off.

There is no suggestion yet that Saturday's Premier League match at Cardiff City Stadium will also have to be postponed, but the Bluebirds are ready to help out in any way they can.

Bluebirds chief executive Ken Choo said on Sunday morning: “Following Saturday evening’s terrible events at King Power Stadium, the thoughts and feelings of Leicester City FC are at the forefront of our minds.

"As such, we will be offering our support to Leicester City in any way necessary in respect of next weekend’s scheduled fixture.”

The matter is in Leicester's hands and they would need to speak to the Premier League and the Bluebirds about any possible postponement.

It is thought Cardiff's Malaysian owner Vincent Tan and Leicester's Thai billionaire Srivaddhanaprabha have been friends for a number of years. Tan will be shocked by the events which unfolded on Saturday night, as Cardiff were themselves making their way home from their own match at Liverpool.

Srivaddhanaprabha was on the helicopter at the time of the incident, according to reports from the BBC.

Witnesses said the helicopter seemed to spiral out of control moments after it set off at about 8.30pm on Saturday and plummeted into the car park. Police cars and emergency services rushed towards an area where flames were visible before the area was evacuated.

Srivaddhanaprabha leaves the stadium by his helicopter, which lands in the centre circle on the pitch, after every Leicester home game.

Witnesses said the helicopter took off from the pitch but lost control within a few seconds and crashed into the club's staff car park.

A Leicester City spokesman said: "We are assisting Leicestershire Police and the emergency services in dealing with a major incident at King Power Stadium. The club will issue a more detailed statement once further information has been established."

In a statement confirming the passing of their chairman, Leicester City confirmed that their Carabao Cup tie with Southampton and their Development Squad fixture against Feyenoord in the Premier League International Cup have been postponed.

It remains to be seen if the fixture with Cardiff City at the weekend will go ahead, although there is no indication at this stage that the match will be called off.

Questions are now being asked over whether the game with Cardiff will now follow suit, with Bluebirds chief executive Ken Choo confirming that the club would do "whatever necessary" to support their counterparts at the King Power.

Here's the lowdown on what could happen next.

What's the latest?

The Premier League is understood to be in discussions with both clubs over the fixture, but no decision has yet been made.

However, given that the game has not been chosen for live TV coverage, conversations over what to do next could well move swiftly.

There is no indication to suggest the game will not go ahead at this stage.

The final decision will be Leicester City's.

Leicester City helicopter tragedy

When will we know?

It's difficult to say for certain, but we understand a concrete decision is likely to be made later today.

If it is postponed, when would it be played?

It's far too early to speculate at this stage, but should the match be called off, one would suspect that it would either be rearranged to a midweek date later in the season or, if neither side progresses too far, during a free FA Cup weekend.

What have the Premier League said?

The Premier League are understandably reluctant to comment until a decision has been made.

However, executive chairman Richard Scudamore released the following statement over the weekend.

"My Premier League colleagues and I are devastated to learn that Leicester City FC Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people lost their lives in the helicopter crash outside King Power Stadium last night," said Scudamore.

"Our deepest condolences and heartfelt thoughts go to the Srivaddhanaprabha family and all the relatives and friends of those involved in this tragic accident.

"Vichai was a gentleman who graced the game with his civility and charm and we will miss him enormously. His impact on Leicester - the football club and city - will be remembered for ever."

Could any other fixtures be affected?

It looks very unlikely that any other games featured in next weekend's programme of fixtures will be affected.

The Foxes Carabao Cup tie with Southampton has been cancelled with a trip to Cardiff on Saturday in question

Tuesday 30th October 2018

By James Nursey

Leicester City's grieving stars will today decide if they are ready to return to action this weekend.

The Foxes’ squad yesterday paid tribute to the club’s late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha after the King Power Stadium helicopter tragedy.

Their Carabao Cup tie at home to Southampton , originally scheduled for Tuesday night, has been postponed.

But a decision is yet to be made on Saturday’s Premier League trip to Cardiff and the players will be allowed to make it.

The Premier League and the Welsh club are understood to be very sensitive about the disaster and will respect City’s squad’s wishes.

Many were very close to Srivaddhanaprabha and stars like Jamie Vardy were still visibly upset when paying tribute alongside the late owner’s son and vice-chairman Aiyawatt.

He flew in from Thailand with his mother, Srivaddhanaprabha’s wife, to visit the stadium to inspect the tributes and leave their own.

Srivaddhanaprabha’s family and club staff and players have united following Saturday’s disaster, which claimed five lives including the owner’s.

A warm down session for the squad on Sunday was cancelled in the aftermath of the horrifying fireball.

But the players returned to a “sombre” Belvoir Drive training ground on Monday morning before heading as a team to the stadium.

Now stars, including keeper Kasper Schmeichel who rushed out to the crash site when the helicopter came down, must decide when they are mentally right for the rigours of Premier League football.

Leicester City will travel to Cardiff by coach rather than taking plane

Leicester City FC

Wednesday 31st October 2018

Leicester City will travel to Cardiff via coach instead of flying, following the tragic event that took place on Saturday.

The Foxes will make the commute on Friday for their Premier League encounter against Cardiff City and have opted to travel by coach as flying would be insensitive given chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s tragic death, the Press Association reports.

Srivaddhanaprabha died on Saturday, along with four other passengers, when his helicopter took off from the King Power Stadium and crashed in the vicinity.

The Midlands club announced they have delayed their Carabao Cup encounter with Southampton – which has been rescheduled for Tuesday – but will go ahead with their match against Cardiff City.

Leicester had considered postponing their league match against The Bluebirds, but it will go ahead after backing from the players and staff. There will be minute’s silence prior to kick off, while players will wear black armbands.

Cardiff executive director and chief executive Ken Choo told the Cardiff City website: “Following Saturday evening’s terrible events at King Power Stadium, the thoughts and feelings of Leicester City FC are at the forefront of our minds.

“As such, we will be offering our support to Leicester City in any way necessary in respect of this weekend’s fixture.”

Along with Srivaddhanaprabha, members of the chairman’s staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, and pilot Eric Swaffer and his partner Izabela Roza Lechowicz died in the crash.

Tributes have flooded in and a books of condolence has been opened at the King Power Stadium, which is available from 8am to 10pm every day. An online book can be signed via the club’s website.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) are currently conducting an investigation as to establish what caused Saturday’s tragedy.

The wonderful tribute Leicester City fans have planned for Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha at Cardiff City Stadium

Leicester fans are also inviting their Cardiff counterparts to raise their scarves as well, as Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock offers his full support.

Thursday 01st November 2018

Leicester City fans are planning a special tribute to their owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha for this weekend's game against Cardiff City.

The popular Thai owner died, along with four others, on Saturday night in a helicopter crash outside the club's King Power Stadium — a tragedy that has stunned the footballing world and shaken the club to its core.

Tributes have been pouring in all week, with Foxes players and fans visiting the stadium to lay down flowers and shirts to pay their respects to the man lovingly known simply as 'Vichai'.

You can see all of the heartbreaking images from the visit of the players and Srivaddhanaprabha's family here.

And supporters attending this weekend's game at Cardiff City Stadium — which was given the go-ahead earlier this week after discussions between the clubs — will stage their own special homage.

Union FS, a prominent Leicester City supporters' group, is encouraging fans to put their 'Scarves up for Vichai'.

They want every Leicester fan who attends the game to raise a scarf when the teams come out while singing the club anthem 'When You're Smiling' to show support for the late owner and his family, as well as the Foxes players and officials.

They will then repeat the gesture on 60 minutes, in recognition of the 60 years of Srivaddhanaprabha's life.

Leicester fans are also inviting their Cardiff counterparts to raise their scarves as well, as Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock offers his full support.

"Honestly get the feeling they want to show some sort of respect to us on Saturday for our loss," said one Foxes fan online.

“We are all behind Leicester, the players and the fans," said Warnock.

"We can’t have a say in it whatsoever. We are all supportive. Vincent Tan knew Vichai well and so did the others. There are all sorts of things that have to be taken into consideration.

"I can promise the Cardiff fans will be amazing. I'm sure there will be a lot of tears.

"Our supporters have been absolutely fantastic this season and will make sure it is a suitable occasion, but it will be a difficult afternoon."

On the pitch, players will wear black armbands and the whole stadium will observe a minute's silence before the game.

It has also been announced that the Leicester chairman's funeral will take place in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday and will last for several days as per Buddhist tradition.

Leicester fans are also planning a walk to Filbert Way from the city centre before the home game against Burnley next week, as well as a Tifo in memory of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

SKY SPORTS

Cardiff v Leicester

James Maddison has been in fine form for Leicester this season

Key stat: Leicester have won six of their last eight Premier League games against promoted sides (D1 L1).

Form: The Bluebirds have won just one of their 11 Premier League matches since returning to the top flight, conceding 23 goals - only Fulham have shipped more. The Foxes, meanwhile, are without a win in their last three league games and sit 12th in the table

Main men: Callum Patterson has scored two goals in as many games for Cardiff and is starting to show why he was so important for the Bluebirds in their promotion-winning campaign last term. Leicester's James Maddison is looking like an excellent summer addition, easing Riyad Mahrez's departure to Man City.

Best backed: 1-2 (8/1 with Sky Bet)

Claude Puel says the result will be insignificant when Leicester City play their first Premier League match since the death of owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Leicester chairman Srivaddhanaprabha was one of four people killed when his helicopter crashed outside King Power Stadium shortly after last weekend's draw against West Ham.

The tragedy has taken a heavy emotional toll on the club and Saturday's trip to Cardiff City was in doubt following the postponement of the scheduled EFL Cup tie against Southampton.

Puel revealed his players agreed as a group to proceed with the Premier League fixture in tribute to Srivaddhanaprabha.

"The game is not important, the result is not important. But our desire, our action, our power to give our best on the pitch, to honour our chairman, I think is the most important thing," the Leicester manager said.

What have the managers said?

NEIL WARNOCK:

Speaking following the tragic helicopter crash in Leicester last weekend, Warnock commented: "We just made sure they knew whatever they wanted to do, we would support.

"Players, staff, management, owners - whatever they decided to do tribute-wise, we wanted to agree to that. It doesn’t surprise me as that’s the kind of club we are.

"Yesterday was an important day training wise and we had to remind them that it’s an important game because Leicester are a good side.

"How they didn’t beat Arsenal I don’t know. You take the top four or five out of the decision and Leicester comes to mind as the next best."

CLAUDE PUEL:

"I think the game is not important," the Frenchman said at his press conference.

"The result is not important. Our desire and action, and our pride to give our best on the pitch, to honour our chairman is the most important thing.

"When I saw my players in training, they can give their best. After a few minutes, they are focused on the football on the pitch. I hope we can have just have this feeling during the game.

"We have a responsibility about his memory. It was first the words of Kasper (Schmeichel): we have responsibility to continue this way."
