Why Wales fans are unhappy at being charged £15 for Albania friendly

Friday 26th October 2018

Wales fans are unhappy at the cost of tickets to see their side in Albania next month, with members of the Red Wall set to pay nearly five times as more than local fans.

Tickets for the fixture in Elbasan went on sale on the FAW website for £15, with Wales set to receive an allocation of around 2,000 for the game.

However, while the price may be seen by many as good value for international football compared to some other fixtures, some Wales fans claim they are being ripped off.

Scotland fans are set to pay just £4 for their Nations League fixture out in Albania

Home fans at the Elbasan Arena could end up paying as little as £3 for a ticket for the game, while Wales's home nation rivals Scotland have charged their fans just £4 for their Nations League encounter with the Albanians three days earlier.

A source at the FAW said they'd received very few complaints about the pricing structure for the game, adding that many fans still saw £15 as good value for international football.

They added that the contract for ticket prices differs from that for the Nations League, allowing the FAW to name its price for fans wishing to attend the fixture.

They said the money made would likely go towards the costs of fulfilling the fixture, as well as potential investment in more long-term projects to help Welsh football.

The FAW say part of the cost would go towards fulfilling the fixture, if that's the case if no one bought tickets would they have to cancel the fixture ? Its just the FAW making some easy money on the back of their loyal fans.

Only fair that people from third world developing nations like Scotland get greater discounts than us ;)

We’re classed as a top 20 team though, if it was England, Spain or France then the price would more than likely be higher

Some clown wrote are they trying to price us out of going?

Seriously? If a 15 quid ticket Pushes one over the edge between going and not going then me thinks they shouldn’t be going. They certainly shouldn’t be allowed Twitter.
