Alex Smithies anyone?

He was a fair slice of our expenditure so after losing 4 in a row, shall Etheridge deserve the drop for our highly acclaimed summer signing. The defence is tune with the keeper at any level, so maybe Alex Smithies deserves his chance sooner rather than later? Thoughts anyone from previous appearances for other clubs, least he knows this division is what I'm thinking. Only 7 games in a change could be vital in between the goals?

Smithies has never played in the Premier League, so no, he doesn't know the division. Etheridge has been excellent in goal for us so far this season, Burnley's first goal aside.

My Bad, I thought he played there for QPR a few seasons ago. I done no research but wanted to put it out there as a different option.

our keeper has done fine under very difficult circumstances , been one of, if not our best performer .
proper don't get why anyone would think we should swap.
having said that we are playing Cunningham instead of Bennett so anything can happen..

I always felt Warnock is awaiting to stick in smithies and Cunningham.

It's not our goalkeeper that's the problem.
It's the defenders in front of him.
They need to start communicating more as at times they are all over the place

Im happy with Etheridge for now and agree with this, despite being a massive fan of Sean Morrison and Sol Bamba. Also, against the quicker strikers in the Premier League we either need to drop deeper (which requires us to flood the midfield with bodies) or play a quicker centre back as a sweeper, ideally Bruno Manga.

Out of curiosity, does anyone think Manga and Cunningham would be a viable option as a centre back pairing in the top flight, allowing Bennett to resume full back duties?

Is he injured? He played in the Caraboa cup game but Murphy has been on the bench since.
