VINCE ALM: “ Performance was fantastic / I Refuse “

Sun Sep 30, 2018 9:28 pm

VINCE ALM:

Well done again to the supporters today stuck with the team until the end. if we are to have any chance of staying up need to be as one together. Although results not going to well for us we need to hold our nerve.

I thought today's performance was fantastic by the team gutted for them and for you they couldn't pull a win out of the bag their efforts and yours deserved. It's easy to pick things apart after the event and everyone is an expert with hindsight. However lots of positives out of today's game, plenty of attacking football to get everyone on their feet.

I love my club, I refuse to chuck the towel in after 7 games: I love my club I refuse to slag our players off: I love my club I don't listen to people who know nothing about our club.

Don't be swayed by negativity, remember how we got here under transfer embargo and FFP rules unbelievable achievement. We can make the step stick together there are enough people slagging us off without our own having a go.

Dust ourselves and try to get 3 points at Wembley next weekend

Nice one Vince. Couldn't believe the amount of fans going out of the stadium today saying we are already down. Still so much to play for yet. Keep the faith

Christ, you sound like Lord Haw-Haw Vince with all this brain wash propoganda. Let people believe what they see with their own eye's.......but if you think that was fantastic, you need to go to Specsavers. Warnock is stuck with the group he has now but to most, he is not perming it right. And from the outside, it doesn't look as if he is able to change suble areas of play on the training pitch. Some of my observations below but I would also say that the support has been pretty good. Canton was bouncing yesterday and will always support effort. But Neil has to influence this group of players.

1. Why Cunningham for Bennett? Beyond me.
2. Sadly, Ralls looks like a little boy in the big league. Surprised me, as I thought he would step up quite well.
3. Work out who plays best where in midfield, Neil. Camarasa has quality and time on the ball. Use him in the middle to act as the centre of the wagonwheel. All first balls out go to him and he pings it like Matt Le Tissier.
4.Arter besides him, Ralls covering up behind. Work on the training pitch with them keeping their triangle shape.
5. Bamba. Enthusiasm and commitment is not good enough in this league. Discipline in holding shape is everything. Poor old Sol reminds me of Roger Johnson (now Bromley in Vanarama League!) who, if he saw the ball coming in the air but landing 10 yards in front of the flat four line, HAD to go get it.....leaving a hole in the defence if he missed it. You can coach this discipline. For now, Sol is lake a moth attracted to the light bulb.
6. Easy to say that Zahore is not what weth ought he might be. But do something about it Neil. Either give him some support by way of pace entering the box beside him or teach him how to pull defenders out of shape. Get him to watch the tape of Aguaro playing against us and how he teased Morrison to follow him out of position. Only 3 yards, but it makes a gap in the back line. Standing still and jumping is NOT a tactic. Change something, Neil.
7. Reid seems like a sharp enough young lad. Seems willing to please and has already played about 5 different roles. Not an out and out striker, but pacy and bright. Murray, Camarasa and Reid is a good threesome. Work them. Triangles. Gaps. Get them to live together, clean their teeth together, scratch their ears together.......they need to know instinctively what each other is going to do. Nothing so far. Bit of coaching, Neil.
8. Holliett? Confidence shot from day 1. For such a great man manager, how has Neil not convinced him he is Georgie Best? Result, not even sub. If not fit, my bad.
9. Subs bench stuffed with defenders (at least changed yesterday). Why? Gamechangers?
10. Christ knows what he has done to Madine!! And why put him on in front of Reid. Burnley were swallowing up the first balls. The second ball was always going to be the one.....

So, I will be at Wembley. Cheering. But let us have out opinions, Vince. The manager is not being very good at his job at the moment, in my opinion. Reality time. We have some good players, some we have to protect a bit and some who will shine better if played differently. That is the manager's job.

This season is a free hit as far as I can see. No one expected it, Warnock ,his staff and the team are the ones that got us up and fully deserve a crack at it. So far in those 7 games weve had Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Spurs are up next.
When I watch a game I look for effort, ability, communication and I never want to see heads drop. So far - they have played exactly as that. They are up for it, so is Warnock and so are the majority of the fans. If we play like we have been - then luck will come our way, we are playing to the best we have - no complaints from me.

I know the pressure mounts up and the picture the press paint can be negative - but that has to be used in our favour - siege mentality, us against the rest :bluebird:

Spot on, good job we didn't have some of these fanny's in the trenches, we would have been speaking German and moaning about not enough Swastika's on the badge now

Someone posted on another forum "this season is no more than a free hit at a cashpoint machine". Yup, that's exactly as I see it.

It's not as if we are allowed to sign anyone now is it , what we have is what we have till January. When that window does open - shall we go and buy Ronaldo ? - that would break the budget and the team spirit. In business as I guess in sports management - you have to deal with the resources you have and maximise them to the fullest potential.

You do that by sticking together, working as a team and knowing that each game they have left it all on the pitch etc. As soon as heads drop, supporters start to walk out at half time etc - then it's over. We know that, Warnock knows that - so therefor we all have a duty to make sure that doesnt happen (again).

Enjoy the ride, celebrate the successes, analyse the losses etc and just take it for what it is, your football team playing at the highest level (probably) in world football.

I’m glad you said this Vince. I thought I was the only fan on here with the same positive attitude and ideas. There are up to 6 teams who are similar to us in ability and we can’t all go down.

Its the first time I have managed to see us play this season and I thought we were pretty unlucky to lose that. Two defensive errors cost us the game, but we played some pretty good attacking football I thought, and on another day Murphy and Zohore's efforts would have gone in instead of hitting the post and a couple of excellent saves. I can't remember Etheridge doing anything apart from picking the ball out of the net twice and that was the difference between the two sides. But on the evidence of the whole game we were by far the better team. Just need to find a clinical edge to our finishing and the points will start to come.

I hate these type of post. Yes be positive but also be realistic don't try to cover up the situation we are awful atm just say it. You won't get shunned upon.

Re: VINCE ALM: “ Performance was fantastic / I Refuse “

Mon Oct 01, 2018 3:01 pm

Vince you need to be realistic. This is a results driven business.

Played against a Newcastle with 10 men for 25 minutes and drew 0-0.
Played against Huddersfield with 10 men for 20 minutes and drew 0-0.
Got beat 2-1 by a very poor Burnley team.

Out of the first 7 games we have 2 points.

2 of our next 3 games are against Spurs and Liverpool. We will get destroyed in both of these games.

If we lose to Fulham we will have 2 points from our first 10 games. This is not good enough. 25% of the way through the season and we already have a lot of catching up to do. As a bare minimum we should have 5 points by now. Huddersfield, Newcastle and Burnley were there for the taking.

The club have screwed up bad. Lets call it what it is. There's no point in spending £30 million and still being a Championship team. We may as well have spent nothing, banked the money from being promoted and rebuilt in the Championship.

Warnock also screwed up BAD yesterday. Terrible tactics. Terrible starting lineup. Zohore has looked poor for a long time now. He achieves nothing. Why start with him?

With 20 minutes left to go, when we haven't come close to troubling Burnley all game with aerial crosses into the box, why bring on Gary Madine which is more of the same and leave creative players like Kadeem Harris and Bobby Reid on the bench? It was a huge mistake.

We caused Burnley big problems when we played with the ball on the deck around the box and yet Warnock persisted with the same garbage crossed into the box that saw us fail to score goals in the Championship and now fail to score goals in the Premier League.

The rabbit hole goes deeper...

Madine is not good enough for a mid table Championship team, let alone a Premiership team. Why leave Pilkington out of the 25 man squad and keep Madine? This decision was horrific imo. We could really do with someone like Pilkington right now.

I get that you're a diehard fan. No one is questioning anyone's credibility as a fan, but jesus christ man wake up and smell the coffee.

This is a results driven business and we cannot score goals. We also struggled to score goals from open play last season in the Championship. It should have been addressed in the transfer window. It wasn't and now we're paying the price.

Piss poor mis management of the club from the board level right down to Warnock and his coaching staff.

It's bad. Really bad. Not good enough.
