NEIL WARNOCK:

Concerns over Morrison in Premier League?

"Not really. I didn’t see it as bad as some papers did. It’s bound to be different because they’re different games, but I’m not concerned."

NEIL WARNOCK:

Sol Bamba left out of last game

" I felt sorry for him!' "
"I just wanted to see a few things, like Greg Cunningham, who I thought was our best player by a mile, so that was a plus in that area but I just thought that when I looked at the team Lee was better in that situation."

NEIL WARNOCK:

INJURIES:

"Peltier’s not got to have an operation which is the good news but it’s still going to be between two and three months. Obviously it came out of the joint and they managed to put it back in without operating and the surgeon thinks he doesn’t need a plate and he’s got more of a chance of healing naturally."

"He’s in good spirits as is Mendez who’s got the brace off. Gunnarsson is training this week but I don’t think he’ll be anywhere near fit for Sunday but he has trained and he’s looked well. He’s shown us what we’ve missed over the last few weeks. There are one or two little niggles but that’s all."

NEIL WARNOCK:

" Gunnarsson "

"Yeah it’s been to build it back up again. He’s had a couple of little knocks now. We thought he’d be okay for the Chelsea game but he had another knock in training and sod’s law it’s in the same place so we’ve had to take him back a little bit. We’re crossing our fingers that this time it’ll be okay."

The Bluebirds host Burnley this weekend in a match that is, quite simply, must-win and there's plenty for Warnock to digest.

NEIL WARNOCK:

On Burnley

"I think you know what you’re getting with Sean. For me I thought he was manager of the year last year to get Burnley into Europe. So there are tried and tested professionals at this level, but we’ve got to try and get the crowd going and give them something to shout about."

Surprise selection?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Different players have different scenarios. One or two lads have been a bit low but it’s up to me to get the best out of them. That’s what I’ve got to do, to look at the positives."

"Training is important. One player has done well this week and haven’t been in my thoughts before. So that’s the best way of catching the manager’s attention. Get on the training ground and give me a nudge."

Warnock: "Kenneth Zohore has got to get the hunger back"

Kenneth Zohore?

NEIL WARNOCK:

I’ve not seen a lot of him either!

"That’s why he’s not been in the team. He’s got to do better in training every day. He’s got to get the hunger back that he’s had. There’s only one person who can do that. We can only do so much. It’s like the saying of taking a horse to water."

"He’s in the running. He’s in the 18, but he’s got to do more in training."

NEIL WARNOCK:

Is this a barometer for this season

"I think from Burnley’s point of view they’d be looking at this as a good chance of getting 3 points as you can understand. From our point of view the fixture list hasn’t been too kind.}

"The first ten games we’ve played the top seven from last year. That was a little bit cruel on us but we’ve just got to hang in there. This is a big game. Apart from the top six anything is winnable in this league and Burnley are in that category."

"Sean’s got a strong work ethic so we must be sure we’re ready for that and hopefully we can cause them problems."

Mood in the Cardiff City camp

"The reaction’s been very good in training but they’re bound to be disappointed. Like I was. You don’t want to concede so many goals in front of your own crowd. You do appreciate the quality we were playing against. Some of the play was unbelievable.

I was quite pleased second half [against Manchester City] but disappointed in Bruno who threw that away, because that did make it look worse than what it was."

NEIL WARNOCK:

Is this a must win?

"I think there’ll be a few more of them in the next few weeks. A few more must-win games. It’s not a must win but it is very important to us. The two away games coming up at Tottenham and Liverpool with one home game in between means it’s difficult, but it’s a very difficult period. The importance of the game can’t be put under the carpet."

"Winning your first game is always important that’s why I’ve been so disappointed that we’ve not made the most of our opportunities. But we’ve just got to get on with it. We are a little thin for options."

"The under-23s are very important. The top clubs always have two or three to call on, on top of their 25. But I think we only have about 19 players to pick from. But the lads are trying as hard as they can but they just need to get rid of their mistakes."

Bad time to play Burnley?

"You don’t know. You can talk about what might have. All I know is they’re a good strong team that’s seen it all and done it all. They’ve got to be quite formidable to score four against Bournemouth."

"I think it’ll be a better game because our lads need something after the last two games. It’s difficult when you come up against teams like that but it’s just as difficult playing Burnley if you’re not ready for it."

SOL BAMBA:

As Sol Bamba explained this week: “Without disrespect to Burnley or Fulham, I think we can beat those kinds of teams, and if we want to stay up we have to.

“Our home games against the teams around us are going to be massive.”

“Burnley took a lot of teams by surprise on their way to a European place, although you’d hope that Neil Warnock won’t be too surprised at what the Clarets may have to offer come Sunday afternoon.”

“We can beat Burnley and the other teams around us.”

On Sean Dyche

NEIL WARNOCK:

"He doesn’t pay too much attention to anyone else and I think that’s the only way English managers can do it. I don’t think English managers are going to get many opportunities at the very top level."

"The owners nowadays are looking for a top foreign manager but Sean’s as good as it gets when it comes to English managers and he does it the hard way. You have to take a team up and then change it to keep them up. Unfortunately he couldn’t stay up the first year but he was given the chance to build again and to take them back up and they’ve never looked back."

"It does show us what’s possible in the next few years."

This is the stark reason Cardiff City are not picking Kenneth Zohore

Friday 28th September 2018

Kenneth Zohore needs to do more in training if he is to force his way back into the first team picture at Cardiff City.

That's the frank assessment from boss Neil Warnock, who admits he's been unimpressed by the Dane, who's made just two Premier League starts this season, despite previous suggestions that he could play a key role in the Bluebirds' survival bid.

Warnock has shown a preference to the likes of Bobby Reid, Danny Ward and Gary Madine in recent weeks, and says Zohore needs to show more hunger if he's to win his place back in the team.

When quizzed on his sparing use of the striker.

NEIL WARNOCK:

Warnock said: "I’ve not seen a lot of him either!"

"That’s why he’s not been in the team.

"He’s got to do better in training every day. He’s got to get the hunger back that he’s had.

"There’s only one person who can do that. We can only do so much.

"It’s like the saying of taking a horse to water.

Cardiff have scored just three goals this season - a tally that's left them tied with Huddersfield Town as the league's worst in front of goal so far.

As a result, Warnock has refused to close the door on restoring Zohore to the starting line-up, providing he puts in the hard yards.

"He’s in the running [for Burnley]," he continued. "He’s in the 18, but he’s got to do more in training."

Warnock has clearly been paying plenty of attention to training in recent weeks, and has even hinted that there could be a surprise in his selection for the visit of Burnley on Sunday as a result.

"Training is important. One player has done well this week and hasen’t been in my thoughts before. So that’s the best way of catching the manager’s attention. Get on the training ground and give me a nudge."

He keeps referring to this, basically saying stick with me we may not stay up. I think this is a bit negative, don't give your players an excuse, they need constant arse kicking and need to be doing everything to stay up !!!

The things he has been saying since we have gone up to me shows he hasn't managed in the premiership for very long, very armature.

What he says in public may be different to what he says to his players behind closed doors. It could be that he is just trying to take some of the pressure of his players, and deflect any criticism onto himself. If that is his aim, it is obviously working. Just a different angle on things, and I could be completely wrong. Only Warnock will know for certain.

ordinarily id say you have a point but apart from a small few there is zero pressure from our fans..we do as a fan base understand how difficult a job he has ?

I just don't see it myself.
It's almost giving the players an excuse to fail.
