Wales begin their Nations League campaign tonight against Republic of Ireland at Cardiff City Stadium.

It will the the first home match of Ryan Giggs' reign, and the manager has a full squad to select from against the Emerald Isle.

But it's not so positive on the injury front for Martin O'Neill who is without several first team stars including Shane Long and James McClean.

And there's no doubt that the home fans will be determined to see Wales claim all three points following the heartbreaking loss to the Irish in their final World Cup qualifier just under a year ago.

The ongoing saga enveloping the Denmark national football team has taken a new twist with reports now suggesting stars like Christian Eriksen could face Wales after all.

A makeshift Danish team featuring part-time players and Futsal stars lost to Slovakia 3-0 on Wednesday night, after first-teamers went on strike due to a row over commercial rights.

It was thought a similar side would face Wales in Arhaus on Sunday but Danish FA chairman has since hinted that a U-turn could take place as he works towards resolving the controversial dispute.


Moller said: "I will not rule out anything now. I'm a positive person and we are talking together. There is dialogue between the parties.

"The national team players want to play the match against Wales. There is a dispute about the commercial rights so we cannot just lean back in the chair and sign."

A statement from the CEO of the Danish FA, Claus Bretton-Meyer, said: "It is a deeply regrettable situation we are in. Both for the team, fans and for all in Danish football.

"We had hoped that the players would meet when we offered them the same fee, bonus, paid insurance and better flight, food and treatment conditions.

"Now we are working to get the best possible players to play the two matches for Denmark.

"It is crucial for the future of Danish football. If the games are not played, we may be fighting millions of fines and exclusions for both national teams — and Danish football will be returned to the Stone Age in many areas."

Other factors, such as FIFA rules on releasing players and the fact the stars have not trained in the lead-up to the fixture, could play a part.

Wales first of all face Republic of Ireland in their Nations League opener tonight (Thursday) before travelling to Denmark.

Ireland boss Martin O'Neill voiced his own concerns about the dispute with Wales set to gain an advantage from playing a weakened Danish side if Eriksen and company do not feature.

But the saga that has dominated the current international window rumbles on.

What a contrast between tonight and last couple of games with Coleman? Let's hope we continue in same way

They could certainly have done with Harry Arter tonight, but in a way I'm glad he wasn't playing because he'd have been as committed as he is for us and probably upset people

I thought I was watching Manchester City tonight Thought Mepham, Ampadu and Brooks in particular were outstanding.
