The term “Plastic”

Tue Sep 04, 2018 9:02 pm

Ok this has been bugging me for a few years now, the terms “Plastic” and “plastic fan”

When are we going to move away from it? Is there any need for it?

Not everybody can afford a season ticket nor do they have the time to make every single home/away match, I know I can’t and my job doesn’t allow me to either being self employed, every fan who supports Cardiff is a Cardiff fan, nothing plastic about that, everybody starts somewhere....

what does it matter if a fan makes 1 match, 3 matches or 23 matches (including cup matches and friendlies), what does it matter if they have a paper ticket or a season ticket?? They’ve taken the time to buy online and attend a match that they can make the same way a season ticket holder has taken the time to renew or buy their 1st season ticket.

Here’s a thought how about we start referencing season ticket holders as “plastic” seeing as you all have plastic cards with rfid capability.

If the stadium is full it makes for a better atmosphere, we saw that Saturday with over 32000 supporters there

Home and away, and wear Cardiff pyjamas and slippers. If none of the Above then you are a plastic.

Maybe so, but it’s definitely an issue, one that we just don’t need, here’s a spin on it, it’s a form of abuse basically making other fans feel inadequate or less important, bullying in any form is wrong

I've been going since 2010 and if that makes me a plastic then I couldn't give a toss

speaks volumes about the person saying it...as does using the term glory hunters.
I see them said sometimes in posts by people I know are extremely loyal diehard fans and it does make me wonder..do these people actually go because they want to go, or has the purpose of going to a game now shifted from enjoying football to keeping up the superfan image they have concocted in their own minds

It's only an 'issue' if you make it one! :thumbright:

Not really bullying when (certainly on a football forum) the 'target' is usually pretty anonymous

Simple fact is that 'plastic' is pretty much indefinable, as almost everyone will have different reasons for attending or not attending individual and/or groups of matches

Some people are genuine and their reasons reasonable, whilst some are clearly not!

Who are we to decide? :ayatollah:

I dunno, I'd say that's borderline plastic. You got a Hull ticket stub to hand?
