No, if it worked like that it'd be Aronsson, not Aranson.
Comes from some significant Ancestor, not the father, although that was sometimes done long long ago.
I don't use the name, so I can say that I'd be Siggurdsson if I did .
Mind you, maybe Aron is in today's terms famous enough for his son to take his name on. I do notice that according to the caption his wife has a traditional Norn name - girls used to take the fathers name and add "dottier" or "dottiir" at the end.
Perhaps he himself needs a proper Norn name like "Aron the Fearless" or something ?
