Taking the game to teams

Mon Sep 03, 2018 7:24 am

Each time we equalised we tried to shut up shop.... and twice that was the undoing......so maybe we have to learn to keep taking the game to opposition and keep the pressure on..... :ayatollah:

I was pleased with the performance overall but I agree 100%. And I am surprised that no one has responded wheras we get a transcript of M of the Day as a stickie! :sleepy2:
For me two main things that came out of the game were
1/ as a positive.....Potential partnership upfront where both Ward (especially) and Reid played and linked together well.
I had posted saying we should play a tall /small partnership and this !ooked very promising.
2/ on a slight negative when we equalised twice instead of pressing high we dropped further and further back until the inevitable. So while some say we could have won the game I don't think that ever looked likely. We might have got a draw.
The question is why???
did we lack real belief that we could win? Or
did a class opposition up their game?
Did they get instructions from Neil Warnock and his team that if we should drop off and hang on for a draw?
Anyway I think Arsenal were rattled at 2-2 and that was the time for fresh legs and to keep pressing.
The performance was very encouraging but there has been too much talk of miracles if we stay up or get points off The top teams!
There will be no easy game. I have just looked at the Pre Christmas fixtures. How many points will that bring?
Warnock said he will have money for a striker if we are in touch at the end of December. Let's pray we are positive and the lads BELIEVE. :bluebird:

Great point regarding whether Arsenal just upped the game....
But I think personally warnock wanted the point.....how many times has sitting deep been the undoing of us.... and yep great all round performance.... :ayatollah:

I discussed this. I think Arsenal pushed their game to a higher level.
