Joe Ralls Won't Cut It In Premier League?

Sun Sep 02, 2018 4:03 pm

Am I the only person that doesn’t see what is so special about Joe Ralls, don’t get me wrong his work rate and positional play can’t be faulted but I just think he is average. All he can do is pass backwards and sideward, his thought process is very slow which always result on him getting caught on the ball. His set pieces are also bang average. I’m not doubting he’s a good player but I just don’t see him as this quality playmaker that everyone bigs him up to be. Good championship player, average In the premiership.

Im in your camp although he works his socks off, just lacks the bit of extra quality

Totally disagree.
Was watching him first half and he was excellent.

Winning the ball playing good passes, tackling, intercepting, headers, lots of great short passes. Always available .

He’s been our best player so far this season and looked as good as any other midfielder out there today.

I quite like him but of course he has his limitations.

Always available and wanting the ball and links play well.

On the downside he quite often slows things down, can only use one foot and his set play delivery has been quite poor this season so far.

Having said all that I still think that he should start in midfield with Arter and Victor.

I can see where your coming from but I don’t think he’s been our best this season mate. I just think that he is so prone to playing it safe and never takes a risk, that’s the reason why he never gets scrutinised because he just fades into the background of things really.

You’ve hit the nail on the head there mate. I just think he’s not that special but he’s just good at complementing and allowing others to do their jobs.

Forgetting the funny accent he almost is one of ours and as such should get more accolades.

Hit and miss at set plays, but we were spoilt for the previous decade so tough to judge against.

Good player and I wouldn't be surprised if he remained in the premier league if we are relegated.

That's strange, I thought he was brilliant today and won so many second balls and keeps the play ticking and is very disciplined which allows players like Arter and Camarasa to express themselves further forward.

I thought he played well today, as he has all season. Bet he’s one of the first names on the team sheet and rightly so!

I thought he was excellent today and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet for me.

He should do extra training on his free kick deliveries ... awful..

I thought he was great today in open play. But I'll echo the set piece deliveries... Seem to be all over the place.

set plays awful...and take a bit away from his performance...

we must have someone who can deliver a better ball ?

who put the ball in for the second goal....

Always thought Ralls may prefer a job further forward or to have a bit more freedom. I think this season he had more of a defence job on his hands hence the sideways passes.

Personally I rate him.

I agree to some extent, but his corner deliveries last season were very good, ask Morrison, so he does have it in his locker. His penalties are also very good, (or at least were last season, obviously not tested yet this year). I think he's well worth his place in the side and has improved season on season. It's hard to adjust to the step up in speed & quality of this league, he hasn't played at this level before, but I think he will be good enough when we get to grips with this league. :ayatollah:

I think Joe Bennett would be useful at corners, he always put a decent cross in.

Hoilett can also put a decent cross in. Both left footers so maybe Murphy on the other side being a winger.

dont agree im afraid...didnt make the top 50 for assists in last years championship which for a dead ball specialist in a team that finished 2nd is very poor....his overall performances though i thought improved last season

He's a player that needs decent footballers around him and he's got that with arter and Victor. Jury's still out whether he can cut it at this level and he's got alot to work on but I think he'll have a decent season for us.

For me he has always been one of the unsung heroes and is slotting into prem football very well, think he will compliment Camarasa and Arta very well, look forward to them playing a few more times together, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Agree with the set play. After scored some beauties with Bournemouth. Surely after should be taking set peices?

On another Danny ward was fantastic!

City goals scored last season:-
Sheff Utd away Morrison header from Ralls corner
Wolves away Ralls goal
Sunderland away Ralls penalty
Boro away Ralls penalty
Brentford home Ralls goal
Forest away Hoilett goal from Ralls free kick
Norwich home Ralls penalty
QPR away Ralls penalty
Sunderland home Patterson goal from Ralls corner
Sunderland home Ralls goal
Mansfield away Manga goal from Ralls corner
Bolton home Morrison goal from Ralls free kick
Ipswich away Zohore goal from Ralls free kick
Bristol City home Zohore goal from Ralls cross
Forest home Morrison goal from Ralls corner
Hull away Morrison goal from Ralls corner
Coupled with that he missed 8 games through injury from Bristol City home until Forest home games.
May not be in Messi's class but not too bad.
Give credit where it's due. ;)

Absolutely love Rallsy he’s city through and through to the point he had a photo taken with my daughter at Frankie and Bennies once when we were out.

He can sometimes fade in games but he works his socks off and goes about his game quietly and confidently, big player for us this season.
