MY VIEW “ CARDIFF CITY BATTLED WELL BUT “

City were unlucky today, gave their all but it wasn’t enough in the end.

“ CARDIFF CITY BATTLED BUT ARSENAL’S QUALITY SHOWS “

Neil Warnock made my three changes from the last league game with Danny Ward, Bobby Reid and Junior Hoilett all starting.

Etheridge, Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett, Camarasa, Ralls, Arter, Hoilett, Reid, Ward

Cardiff got right in Arsenal faces straight away and Bobby Reid nearly robbed Petr Cech of the ball for an easy tap in during the first few seconds, but Cech managed to clear.

In the 7th minute, Harry Arter nearly gave City the lead but shot over the bar. It came from a mistake by Cech. Just after that, Etheridge made an important save from an Aaron Ramsey effort.

GOAL. 12th minute and Arsenal took the lead from a corner. Shkodran Mustafi with the header. 0-1

Bruno Manga gifted Arsenal an opportunity in the 15th minute, but Nacho Monreal’s attempt was saved by Neil Etheridge. Should have been 2-0.

Nearly an equaliser in the 19th minute but Ward couldn’t reach Reid’s cross.

Monreal booked for Arsenal in the 24th minute.

Reid tried an overhead kick in the 29th minute but it went over.

Alexandre Lacazette hit the post in the 33rd minute.

Harry Arter blazed over the bar in first half stoppage time, after a good spell for City.

GOAL. Virtually the last kick of the first half and Victor Camarasa scores our first league goal of the season to equalise. 1-1 :ayatollah:

HALF TIME: CARDIFF CITY 1-1 ARSENAL

Hoilett’s shot from distance in the 46th minute went well wide.

Hector Bellerin booked for Arsenal in the 51st minute.

Etheridge makes an important save from a Mustafi header in the 54th minute.

Danny Ward shot high and wide in the 57th minute.

Matteo Guendouzi booked for Arsenal in the 58th minute.

GOAL. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gives Arsenal the lead again in the 62nd minute, with a brilliant finish from outside the box. 1-2

Granit Xhaka booked for Arsenal in the 66th minute.

GOAL. Danny Ward heads the ball in off the post to make it 2-2 :ayatollah:

Hoilett booked in the 72nd minute.

Camarasa booked in the 77th minute.

Cech saves Reid’s attempt in the 79th minute.

GOAL. Arsenal go ahead in the 81st minute. A brilliant finish from close range by Lacazette. 2-3

Kenneth Zohore replaces Ward in the 84th minute.

Gary Madine replaces Camarasa in the 89th minute.

Sean Morrison headed over in the 91st minute.

Harry Arter booked in the 93rd minute.

FULL TIME: CARDIFF CITY 2-3 ARSENAL

Really positive performance today much better than we have played, only downside for me today was the performance of Morrison in the first half and bamba all game. If we play like that against sides around us then we should be fine :ayatollah:

Lots of positives from the attacking side but our rocks from last season had a shocker today!!

Bamba lost his man twice for 2 of their goals and Morrison has to get closer and stop the shot! It's on the edge of our area.

Great character from the team.

Hoilett works hard getting back but his fianl ball was awful today.

It was a shame Murphy was out!!

I thought Reid, Ward & Bennet all had brilliant performances!

Is this the same guy who posted “Get Real” and “3-0 Arsenal if we’re lucky”??

I think Warnock and the City lads should hold their heads high! This is a top 7 team in English football, millions of pounds spent on squad and we showed courage and grit to come back level not once but twice, securing our first goals in a tough division. Boys done themselves proud, a bit of luck with Arter’s chance and Morrow’s set pieces and today could have been tipped in our favour.

Crowd done us proud and made atmosphere electric, we need that every home game. Some really good performances out there today. The only thing I noticed is that around the 60th minute our relentless counter attack running took the legs of a few and allowed their second goal to creep in. Our bench/squad is being stretched thin by injuries - but the lads all put in an excellent shift!

Yes Sol and Morrison were a bit slack today but they were up against one of the top strikeforces in the league! On the plus side we showed we can compete and create chances against the better teams, on another day we could have won! I thought Ward had his best game since signing for us and Camarasa is a massive plus in midfield!

Murphy would have made a difference as their defence was shaky particularly the keeper
