BIRMINGHAM CITY‘I’M SORRY HE’S SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH’ – OMAR BOGLE AT BIRMINGHAM: THE VERDICTBy Neil R Birmingham City took striker Omar Bogle on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Cardiff City during the summer.
He has previously played for Solihull Moors, Grimsby Town and Wigan Athletic before joining the Bluebirds in August 2017.
Bogle scored three goals as Cardiff won promotion to the Premier League last season and also had a loan spell with Peterborough United.
But is Bogle really good enough for Birmingham City?
We discuss…..Gary HutchinsonI’m sorry he’s simply not good enough.
He was okay at Grimsby, but I always thought he was a League Two striker who somehow convinced the world he was better than that.
I was utterly gobsmacked when I saw he got a Championship loan move.
He won’t score many this season, mark my words.
George DaglessIt’s tough to say.
He didn’t play much at Cardiff in the end and at Birmingham he’s yet to really get firing.
The Blues shouldn’t give up on him yet, though, it is perhaps just a confidence thing.
Jay WilliamsBogle is ultimately unproven at this level.
He has never scored goals at a prolific rate since making the big jump from League Two football to the Championship.
Even at Peterborough United last year, he was not scoring freely in League One.
I am not sure he is the man to save Birmingham this season.
Jay TaylorThe jury is still out.
His time at Grimsby brought about a move to Wigan where he stayed less than a season before Cardiff snapped him up.
From the moment he signed for the Bluebirds, his career stalled.
A loan to Peterborough in the second half of last season before a temporary move this year to Birmingham means he has not had a settled home for the last two years since his move from Grimsby Town.
It might be a confidence issue and the fact he has not been able to find a long-term home for himself.
If Bogle gets that he might be able to find the form that got him a move to the Championship in the first place.
