' NEIL WARNOCK UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS ' :thumbright: :bluebird:

Friday 31st August 2018

NEIL WARNOCK:

'I've got to come up with solutions'

"It’s down to me a bit more than them. I’ve got to come up with solutions. What we could get away with in the Championship, we can’t get away with in the Premier League. You’ve got to change all the time as a manager, we’re slightly different from the other two promoted clubs and haven’t got the money they’ve had."

"I would have loved to bring in a striker but I’m not going to bemoan it. I want to try and enjoy the games against the big clubs and my tactics have got to be like that whether we win or lose - and that’s by giving us a chance to score goals. Everyone expects us to lose the next 3 games but I want to enjoy it.”

Assessment of the first three games

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I think the lads are giving everything they can. I’ve been quite pleased with their performances including against Bournemouth. In every game we could have got something. The other two we should have won both games. I’ve been pleased but as you go higher you’ve got to take your chances, we haven’t taken them.”

:bluebird: :bluebird: " ALL NEIL WARNOCKS UPDATES ARE BELOW " :bluebird: :bluebird:

Mendez-Laing and Hoilett injury latest

NEIL WARNOCK:

"That’s disappointing (Mendez-Laing) and Junior we’re not sure about either, we’ve got one or two little niggles. There’s two or three quite doubtful so it’s a bit up in the air, I’m dreading going into the physio room today."

Warnock on three games coming up...

NEIL WARNOCK:

"You say three tough games? I’d say 33! If you let it worry you too much you’d never sleep at night. We’ve got to try and create chances against the top teams, who we know will have a lot of possession - and that won’t be down to us parking the bus."

"I’m going to enjoy it, we could be in the Championship going all round the country. I’m disappointed the Spurs new stadium wasn’t up and running for our match.
And if we got 40 points I’d be doing somersaults!”

Warnock on Arsenal

NEIL WARNOCK:

I’ve been pitting my wits against Wenger and my favourite story is from my 1000th game - at the Emirates - and I was looking to Arsene and said ‘look how much it’s changed and how far the dugouts are, you won’t hear me today!’ And he said ‘Neil, you will find a way!’. I’ve had some good times with Arsene and the grass isn’t always greener. But I like Emery I think he’s got great vision and some great players, it’s great to pit your wits against them. Arsenal is very special to me. The first game I remember going to with my Dad was at Highbury. The same at Bramall Lane, the first I remember was against Arsenal. I think it’s a lovely club.”

Any loan exits?

NEIL WARNOCK:

Lee Tomlin / Anthony Pilkighton

"That I don’t know. There’s one or two enquiries for players but I don’t know as such.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Did Warnock take his players out for a Chinese meal after all?

"We were a bit busy this week so had to give it a miss. But it was a way of saying we’re trying everything we can on the training ground to give teams a game."

(Warnock had joked after the Norwich game in midweek that he’d treat his squad to a Chinese meal if they worked on their goal-scoring).

How many do Cardiff need to score?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"It depends how you look at it. I don’t know how many Burnley scored last season? But they finished 7th and played some good football! It depends on your philosophy and we’re never going to score two or three per game are we?!"

Warnock on Ramsey

NEIL WARNOCK:

"They will (applaud) if he scores on Sunday. He’s as good as anyone in the country and he should be retiring now and coming back home here (to Cardiff). "

"He’s as good as anyone in the Premier League for me, Ramsey."

"The gift of the top players is that they’ve always got time, I used to think that about Bobby Charlton, he didn’t need to run around. Ramsey always finds time and that’s something the top players will always do. He will stay there and get a good increased, it’s just politics. I’d love him to come here, he could be captain as well, Mozza wouldn’t mind."

Warnock on Ozil

Neil Warnock:

"Players play for certain managers and for whatever reason don’t play for others. But it’s only a matter of time before people like Ozil click. At that level you don’t worry about that as a manager, they’re just good players."

"He (Ozil) can come and play for us if he wants!"

Neil Warnock's verdict on 'unsettled' Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey ahead of Cardiff City clash

Friday 31st August 2018

Neil Warnock is adamant that former Cardiff City star Aaron Ramsey will sign an extended deal with Arsenal, but joked that he would love to sign the Wales star if not.

Ramsey locks horns with his former club this weekend when Cardiff host Arsenal, with the Welshman's Gunners contract still to be renegotiated by new boss Unai Emery.

There has been speculation the Wales midfielder could depart the Emirates after a decade-long stay in North London, but Warnock laughed off those rumours ahead of Sunday's clash.

Cardiff City's Harry Arter and Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey
"It's the club trying to get a good deal and the agent trying to get a good deal for the player," said Warnock.

"He will stay there and get a good increased, it’s just politics."

And if not? Warnock's reply was very much tongue in cheek.

"I’d love him to come here, he could be captain as well, Mozza (Sean Morrison) wouldn’t mind, we'd get him an apartment, you name it!" he joked.

"He’s as good as anything in the country and he should be retiring now and coming back home, back here (to Cardiff)!

"Every time I watch Wales and Arsenal, he just does everything, he's a complete player. He’s as good as anyone in the Premier League for me, Ramsey.

"The gift of the top players is that they’ve always got time, I remember when I was young I used to think that about Bobby Charlton, 'he doesn't do much work, but he doesn’t need to run around like everyone else'.

"And it's the same principles as 30 or 40 years ago. (Ramsey) always finds time and that’s something the top players will always do."

Warnock also brushed off speculation that Ramsey's attacking midfield rival Mesut Ozil could also be unsettled at the club.

Rumours have abound that Emery and Ozil fell out, prompting the German's omission from the win against West Ham United, the club citing illness.

"He can come and play for us if he wants," Warnock joked on mercurial talent Ozil.

"Players play for certain managers and for whatever reason don’t play for others. But it’s only a matter of time before people like Ozil click. At that level you don’t worry about that as a manager, they’re just good players.

"I thought they (Arsenal) had a great patch against Chelsea and created loads of chances. When a new manager comes in it’ll be about asking people to do new things. Television can be a little deceiving but they’ll be there fighting for the Champions League places come the end of the season."

Neil Warnock on the occasion

NEIL WARNOCK:

"It’s sure to be a brilliant occasion and a full house at Cardiff City Stadium when the Bluebirds take on Arsenal - and Warnock cannot wait for it."

"I enjoy the home games because of the atmosphere. Going back to when I turned up, who’d have thought we be getting full houses, turning people away three or four days before kick off? You’d say I was in cuckoo land!"

"In the supermarket the other night, I must have had 10 selfies with kids and their mothers. It’s just great in a time when there’s lots of negativity in the world, here in Cardiff people have got something to look forward to every week. Even at Huddersfield the fans were willing us on.”

'Staying up isn't something that can't happen”

“Oh yes by an absolute mile, I always knew it would be. But it’s not something that can’t happen, we’ve just got to come up with a formula. The whole club is far better (than last time) and I’m proud of bringing everything back together, every aspect. We’ve laid the foundations now for the club, looking at the training ground and getting that foundation. You’ve got to look for the future and that’s what we’re doing.”

“Cardiff wont park the bus”

“I don’t want 0-0s, I want to create chances and oohs and aahs for our fans. Even if it means losing, it wouldn’t bother me. At my age I don’t want to be bored watching my team. As long as they give it their all, that’s what I want.”
