(Or words to that effect)
He also recognises that we haven’t got the versatility or strength in depth to match premier teams formations so sticks with what he knows best and doesn’t adapt our shape in response of the opposition which in my opinion is the right thing to do with our team.
However the team proved last season that whilst they can defend, they can also counter attack and score goals from a variety of areas, be it on the break, from a set piece or even the odd worldy
I believe that the players so far this season are concentrating so much on keeping its shape at the back and defending as a team that’s its to the detriment of our counter attacking which we seen last year, is that Neil being the disciplinarian or the players lack of belief in themselves against premier league teams ?
We need to express ourselves soon to give the guys confidence in their attacking ability as well as their defensive abilities, after all we all know we have to score goals and you only do that by moving forward, come on Neil and the players alike, let the shackles off this weekend and go for it, express yourselves and show that we are not worried by the opposition, as they should be changing game plans to adjust to our style.
Because as it’s said on here quite often we have to go with what we have got and our strengths are defend and hit them on the break, so let’s see them break this weekend.

My thought is that he’s looking to “steady to ship” for the first 6 games in order to avoid potential heavy defeats and then build from the back as the players grow accustomed to the top tier and confidence grows. Heavy losses in the opening stages could be detrimental to our entire season.
