ARSENAL FIXTURES: SPOTLIGHT ON CARDIFF CITY
By Ian Waterhouse

They say there are no easy games in the Premier League, that may be so, but there are easier ones than others.

Undoubtedly Arsenal head to the Cardiff City Stadium as overwhelming favourites which means putting the Gunners in an accumulator at sites such as SBK Sports Betting is one of the smarter moves to make in this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures.

Form

Three games into the new season and after back to back losses over City and Chelsea, Arsenal showed some credentials by coming away with a 3-1 home win over city rivals West Ham to register their first points of the season.

The same cannot be said for the so far hapless Bluebirds.

Manager Neil Warnock is finding life tough back in England’s top flight and Arsene Wenger’s old nemesis has lost three and failed to see his side register a single goal.

Head to Head

Look away now Cardiff fans as your head to head with the Gunners is dismal.

Not since 1961 have the Bluebirds registered a win over Arsenal in all competitions even if that fifty-year stretch does only encompass 13 games.

The sides only two previous Premier League encounters saw the Bluebirds fail to score but ship five goals over the two matches during the 2013/14 season.

A 3-0 away win was recorded by Arsenal with Aaron Ramsey the standout performer with a brace that day and a comfortable 2-0 win at the Emirates was the result in the reverse fixture thanks to late strikes by Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott.

Prediction

Anything other than a comprehensive win for Emery’s men would be a huge shock.

Warnock’s Cardiff have looked exactly what they are, a championship outfit.

There have been no signature signings over the summer for the Bluebirds with Harry Artur the standout acquisition.

Arsenal coach Unai Emery will have this game earmarked for a comfortable three-points to get his first back to back Premier League wins under his belt and really kick start the Gunners season.

With no goals, no points and seemingly no clue, Cardiff are a side destined for the drop and the expectation is they will make it four league games in a row without scoring and five games this season without a win after losing to Norwich in the Carabao Cup second round.

The game is to be played at Cardiff’s intimidating Cardiff City Stadium but a solid if uneventful 2-0 win for Arsenal is set to ensue on Sunday.

A tough game for City but typical arrogance from the Arsenal :(

I'd hope Neil Warnock would post this on the dressing room wall and then we shove it up 'em! :laughing6:

We've done to bigger and better teams than them and we can do it again! :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird: :D

"With no goals, no points and seemingly no clue"

f*cking idiot. Again, another idiot journo, who can write an article on our club having not either watched us or done by research?!

We have 2 points. 2 clean sheets, so one end of the pitch knows what they are doing and until arsenal's win over the Premier League power house that is West Ham we were above them!

Typical Arsenal arrogance.

I would be amazed, and somewhat disappointed, if Sunday was uneventful in any way

As has been said, the arrogance and lack of respect some of the "top" teams seems a whole lot worse than the last time we were in the Prem.

Should just make us even more motivated to put one over on them

Talk about over confidence (and since when have we lost 3, last time I checked it was 1 in the league) I think Arsenal are in for a shock when they turn up Sunday...

Tim, this is the sort of stuff our club has thrived on over many a year, so fingers crossed! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Sadly, whatever happens the media won't give us credit for anything we do...

Either way, it'll all be down to the Arsenal's 'class' or 'profligacy' :(

This guy is not going to win friends on here.

he reminds me of my mate who is an Arsenal fan, was born in England but has a Welsh mother. I asked him who he was going to support at the Euro 2016 when it came to the England v Wales game. The last minute he told me England and soon gloated he got it right. Never heard anything from him after that even though I sent him pictures of me walking in Paris and Lyon. Just sent him a post on fb regarding the game this Sunday. I can imagine I will get the confidence post from him back. It will be great if I get the same response after the game like I did in Euro 2016.
