Was I gutted by last night loss and performance in the Carabo Cup against Norwich? No
Was I disappointed by last night performance and result? Yes of course I wanted us to win and I cared thats why I went along
Is it the end of the season are we doomed? Of course not no different to the loss in the same competition at home to Burton last season and look where we finished
Did I expect a free flowing champagne football performance from Cardiff City last night? No
Why? because once I seen the team sheet completely new back four, scratch midfield, forward attack lacking in confidence, and some players not had a competitive game since Burton in the cup last season; I thought we might struggle
Positives; Despite the poor performance we created enough chances to make it 3.3; When Zohore and Ward were on together they worked well as a pairing and created 3 or 4 good scoring opportunities in that short period; Kadeem Harris had 90 minutes although his defensive skills and final ball still need working on we are running out of wingers and he is an option with his pace; Finally players like Peltier, Cunningham, Connolly, Madine, Jazz Richards, Damour needed minutes whether you think their performances were not upto scratch or not they only get better with time on the pitch and some of them will be needed.
as supporters we need to keep a cool heads, stick behind the team, stick together and most of all enjoy it as best we can.
I'm not defending last night performance we were second best however in the big scheme of things it changed nothing, and told us nothing we didn't already know.
keep smiling its a great life

Good post, Vince. Puts things in perspective. Must admit I felt a bit flat after the game, same as Burton last year, though. Don’t think much of block 201, where I was sat last night. Had a stiff neck afterwards. Back to my usual seat on Sunday. Should make it in time! Wales game next week, too.

The problem is that when 'fringe' players are given the opportunity you would expect them to perform in such a way as to impress the manager, and give him a selection headache for upcoming league matches, which has not happened.
It's not new for us to shuffle the team for the EFL cup, but rarely do the second choice players step up to the plate. All that last nights performance has shown is that if the 1st team pick up injuries, then our replacements are not up to the job.

‘Some players have not played since Burton last year’so they may not play til this time next year! What a waste of money, this was an ideal team to play and progress to the next round so these players could have another game.
Sorry Vince you may not be but I’m gutted.

More concerning that we set up wrong again, ideal time playing a championship team in 18th and struggling who have made a lot of changes as well. Take the game to them, get some confidence back in the team. of course it isn't that easy but I honestly think our club has forgotten how to attack teams. Its just a case of defend, stop the opposition and hope for a free kick. I cant remember the last time we went into a game with a purpose to win, maybe Burton in the league last season

I can sort of agree with this but the whole they get minutes under their belt, for some of the players this was a chance to stake a claim of getting in the first 11 or match day squad for Sunday and the only player that done that was Ward and Zohore even Zohore notices the striker position will be thrown up until someone shows something worth of staying in the team.

The biggest conclusion from the Norwich game is NW doesn't like Cup competitions. He simply doesn't take them seriously so any performance is almost irrelevant.

May just have a point, I dont think he wants the distraction.
Certainly we cannot afford anymore injuries to the squad.

Warnock was QPR manager v Port Vales Carlin cup. Vale won 2-0 I believe.

i havent been to a league cup game in years and its got little to do with Warnock. even the year we reached the final there were some pretty poor performances in the early rounds and people playing that Malky didnt even want at the club..

I'll be honest, as wonderful as a cup run may well be, I'm not too bothered we're out; I'm more interested in the club retaining its Premier status and continued development. Some hope! My concern from Tuesday and my gripe too is the embarrassingly poor quality of our second string.

Totally agree and that's why the performance and result are more or less irrelevant.

The QPR fan may be a bit unstable but fair play he has passion in his belly.

Wasn't it an FA Cup game before he said he didn't want to get out of bed for?
Ill be honest I didn't care about the result Tuesday but I don't think its the right attitude as a manager to have in these games.

cant believe the over reaction tbh....this really is not new...and to be comparing performances by the likes of Man City in a FINAL to ours Tuesday night is crazy..
will add that i do think it a shame and remember the days where we actually fielded a genuine 1st team for ALL 1st team fixtures including the Welsh Cup...but that was a long time ago and aint happening again anytime soon no matter who is our manager..
