" Big Concern "

After watching the Norwich game yesterday I have abig concern over our depth of squad for the premier league.

The performance of the so called fringe players was nothing less than a disgrace. We do not have player to come I'm if first team players are out. Why on earth did we include Kadim Harris in our 25 man squad he has not hot a clue.

Gary Madine will not make it as a striker for us. Danny Ward must start as our main striker. Roll on January so we can buy a striker to play alongside Ward. Could be to late by then to keep us up.

It’s not being negative but just realistic that I believe that half a dozen players named in the 25 are not Premiership players. One example is Kadeem, I have seen nothing to suggest that he will make the next level & he is fortunate that NW likes playing two wide men. He didn’t make our team last season & I believe that he would struggle to get into half of the Championship teams. He has pace but little end product and is shooting/finishing is not the best. Personally would have preferred Tomlin. I hope that Kadeem proves me wrong & he does leave a mark this season.

We do not have the depth in the squad and now that we are starting to pick up injuries that is a real concern. I think it was just a case that the money wasn’t there & NW couldn’t strengthen any further.

How on earth did Harris get in the 25 before Pilkington as stated he couldn't get in the squad last season?? Same for Connolly & Pelts they are not up to this level I would have brought James Collins in to add depth & experience to the squad

We probably won't have to call on many of the fringe players got 35 games until mid May.
I'd imagine we pick the same 11 most weeks, with another 3/4 players making up the majority of changes.

I totally agree about Tomlin who is a better unfit, possibly over weight player than some of those in the 25. Also, I would prefer Pilks over Harris as he gives the teams more options. I understand Tomlin, doesn’t really fit into the way NW’s team play, but he could give us that little bit extra and set up KZ for more chances on goal.

Harris over pilks amazes me... but hipe proven wrong.
We all knew it was going to be a struggle, but let's enjoy, support the team.
None of us ever dreamt we be I. This position start of last season, I am glad we haven't committed financial suicide.. the one term future of our club more important.
Still think we will surprise a few people on the way..
it's us against the rest, as no one wants is to be in the Premiership ..so best we all stick together .

Why’s it a big concern do you think our first team is going to catch Ebola and we are going to have to play the team we played last night?

I can't understand the Tomlin thing & not fitting in to Neil Warnock's plans when he was signed last season from our feeder club Warnock said he was his number target & yet he's barely featured! So £1.6m or whatever & big wages wasted

I think the team as a whole are still coming to terms with being in the prem we are like a snail coming out of its shell slowly and getting up to speed with whats around us and we are still in defence mode at the moment we have probably had the easiest start with the 3 teams we have played which should have eased us in at to be fair drawn 2 out of 3 is a fair start but now we have 3 big boys do we stay defensive and hope to keep the score low and perhaps nick a draw a goal perhaps or do we throw caution to the wind and play more attacking which i think a lot of fans would like to see us give it a go even if we loose like huddersfield by 6 goals is surely better than trying to protect the goal for 90 mins against the likes of man city etc

Warnick wanted Tomlin to be fit. He wasn't and isn't. If Tomlin isn't disciplined enough to get fit, how can Warnock trust him to do as he asks on the pitch? We need the team to be all working together. A fit and disciplined Tomlin is just as good as Reid or Arter, but at the moment he's no where near and has missed his opportunity.

As for the depth, we have what we have and that is it. We havent spent loads and probably won't need to. We are trying to scrape survival this year and i believe we will do it. Either 16th or 17th purely on our defensive ability. Goals will be hard this season as will wins, maybe our supporters are so used to seeing us at the top of the table most seasons, that its a panic when we are fighting at the bottom.

I think Warnock had planned on a different way of playing last season, he started the first game and we struggled against Burton. He changed it around for Villa home with a new set up and we never looked back.

A concern has to be that if City need to play Connelly for example due to injuries he is never going to be up to speed, nowhere near it for PL football as he just does not play enough football.

Training aimlessly with no hope of a squad call up is no preparation for a PL game.

The depth of the squad is a huge concern and always was.

ps. Another thing, when these fringe players get the chance to make a mark they just do not step up to it; it's as if they know they have no chance of playing PL football so why bother.

These are last seasons top Championship scorers.

# Player Country Team Goals (Penalty)
1. Matěj Vydra Czech Republic Derby County 21 (6)
2. Lewis Grabban Jamaica Aston Villa Sunderland AFC 20 (4)
3. Leon Clarke England Sheffield United 19 (0)
Bobby Reid England Bristol City 19 (3)

Interesting stats. Zohore scored 9 last season. Reid has a lot of talent but that talent seems to be wasted at the moment.

training aimlessly with no hope of a squad call up is no prep for a premier league game...

your sort of right but all clubs have players way down the pecking order that play in these half arsed reserve cup games and dont get near the PL squad not just us..

Warnock shone at Forest and he came back for pre season looking as if he had lost a lot of weight. He looked in shape. Presumably he was making an effort to try to get into the 25. He can unlock defences where other players struggle to do so. The more creativity in the team the better. He would have been ideal not necessarily to start a game but to come off the bench with 20-25minutes if we were chasing the game. Based purely on footballing ability I would have preferred him in the 25 rather than Kadeem. Pilkington would have been my second choice and then Kadeem.
