Who Do You Want To Lead The Line?

Sun Aug 26, 2018 11:00 am

Many threads on here about strikers and who should be playing up front? Also the press keep highlighting that we haven’t scored as yet.

For me it has to be Zohore. Not particularly good in the air but he doesn’t stop running, holds the ball up well, has pace, can cross a ball & has a decent shot. I think as soon as he gets his first he will go on and get more. Up to now you can say that he has been deprived of chances. If very little is being supplied then the chances of him scoring are slim. Crosses into the box so far have been poor and that’s when we get there which have been few and far between. It was unfortunate that Zohore missed the best part of the game when Huddersfield were down to 10. Would use Madine/Ward to come off the bench and hopefully get another striker in January.

I want to see zohore up top with with Reid playing behind him. That’s how Reid got 19 goals last season. Zohore plays best with the ball at his feet or when running behind the defence. His hold up play is good he just needs support.

Zohore but start playing to his strengths which is allowing him to run at or get behind the centre backs.

If there was a poll I suspect this would be most posters preferred option. Trouble is to accommodate Reid one of Harry Arter, Víctor Camarasa or Joe Ralls will have to be sacrificed. I don't think NW is ready to do that yet as both times Reid has come on for Camarasa we have lost control of midfield.

We are still finding our way in the PL so NW is right to be cautious in the first few months of the season.

However, I can see a time when the Ken/Bob partnership is tried, probably at home against one of our relegation rivals.

I have gone for Zohore based on everyone saying he will come good. My concern is the comments about us not playing to his strengths. Presumably his previous clubs did not play to his strengths either, because he has never scored goals wherever he has played, apart from that brief spell with us a while back.

Has'nt had much opportunity this season as we are not creative enough just yet. Remains to be seen if he can perform at this level having not really managed much when playing at far lower levels. I hope he knocks a few in, although he has plenty of other elements to his game which will hopefully help us this season. As long as he does his bit, it does not really matter who puts the finishing touches to our attack, as long as someone gets on the end and hits the net.

Totally agree!

Danny Ward looked good when he came on as sub yesterday though and I still haven’t written off “our Gary”.

All depends who we are playing, against Norwich it has to be Ward and Medine starting.

Against Arsenal it has to be Zohore.

After that it goes game by game, not a clear winner at the moment.

Although whoever it is the midfield and certainly the wide players need to do more to support the striker. If we play like the first half against Huddersfield again then it doesn't matter who plays upfront.

Agree but we cannot drop some one from midfield so it may be the time with Hoilet a d NML out

Agree absolutely and Arsenal could be the perfect opportunity. At the same time I'd have Jazz in for Bruno

We all know it and it was clear to see we were desperate for a striker in the window. For me Madine, Ward & KZ are championship strikers at best and take Madine's pens away and I wouldn't even say his record is prolific in the championship.

Therefore I don't think it really matters who plays up front but for me Murphy and Reid have to start every game as they're the ones who are most likely to find the net. How you get them both in the team is up to Warnock but to spend 10mil of your very small war chest on a player and to have him on the bench is crazy!!
