Arter situation yesterday!

Sun Aug 26, 2018 8:30 am

Just looking back at it and the headbutt happens whilst the ball is still in play isn’t this a penalty then, I remember years ago, I believe it was Carson for WBA headbutted chopra off the ball and the linesman flagged and gave a penalty, isn’t this the same type of situation?

No initial foul given to Huddersfield and free kick to Huddersfield. Red card for reaction after.

The free kick given to them in the box or the one near the half way?

I thought it was given to them in the box, now I'm doubting myself. Although he gave Arter so I'd assume his offence was the first one and the reaction of the push a red.

I’m sure though if they both happened in play you go against the offence of the red card, say a player is through gets pulled back, then commits a two footed challenge causing a red card you wouldn’t go back to the free kick for the pull back it would be the free kick for the two footed challenge?

If the pull back from the opposition is a free kick then yes the game would stay at that point. If the double footed challenge is after that then it's a red but no free kick as in theory if a free kick is given the play stops at that point.

Whatever happened with Hogg it seems arter was booked for initiating what happened, free kick to Huddersfield, game should stop. The reaction is red card but in theory the game is not in play as they go back to the first foul.

That's my thought anyway, but I'm no referee.

Just looked at it ref clearly gives free kick against Morrison for 1st offence, so pen cannot be given even though sent their player off as his offence was after Morrisons, the linesman gave the decision of what was 1st offence
