Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has the players and the team spirit to survive in the Premier League, insists owner Vincent Tan.
The Malaysian businessman saw Cardiff's goalless draw at Huddersfield, a rare appearance from him at an away fixture.
The Bluebirds made seven summer signings, the largest fees being spent on Josh Murphy and Bobby Reid.
"I think last season Neil proved the bookies and pundits wrong so I believe we have a good chance," said Tan.
"We believe we have enough good players to stay in the league and we have the team spirit.
"Four years ago I did not really get along with the manager [Malky Mackay], but me and Neil work together and speak often."
The Bluebirds now face a difficult run of fixtures, which includes games against champions Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite the odds being against them, Tan remains hopeful that the Bluebirds can go one better than last time they were promoted to the Premier League and remain there.

Warnock says the Bluebirds must "go and enjoy" the run of games against big-name opposition that begins with the Gunners heading to Cardiff on Sunday, 2 September.
"Wherever we are after these three games, it's not going to decide out future," said Warnock.
"It's games like at Huddersfield.
"I'm so looking forward to the next three games because as a manager you don't get a chance to manage against teams like this very often, not if you're English."

OMG mate, what is he supposed to say?
He's got enough of a clue to know when he needs to back his squad and at least not put the pressure on too early...... unlike you.

If he was saying we could qualify for a champions league spot you may have a point, but he's not so you haven't.

Tan is correct.
It appears he knows more about football than some posters here!
Name any one of our players who have absolutely disgraced themselves and proved out of depth in the Premier league so far?
Sun Aug 26, 2018 9:01 am
The problem is NW did such a fantastic job last season on a shoestring budget is the same is expected this season? Problem is it’s a huge step up. It’s great backing the manager & team but it’s not rocket science to see that we need to strengthen up top. If that is not seen that is concerning however I believe come January funds will be made available to bring in another striker.

If you think Tan has a good knowledge of football then you are naive...he still thinks etheridge needs to shoot more.....less than two years ago he wanted cardiff to play like wales...because Wales did well at the Euros and put his faith in Trollope who failed at Bristol Rovers...
We have a reasonable squad bot not quality strikers one or two injuries or suspensions in midfield and we will be knackered
That s my opinion mate

If anyone honestly believes that Tan wants Etheridge to shoot more, then I would respectfully suggest it is not Tan who is the naive one here.

Where did I say that our players have disgraced themselves...we have played two teams who were poor and both of whom went down to 10 and still we couldn t score ...we are talking about the quality to stay up..our three strikers in my opinion are not good enough quality wise..
And i believe Tan has not got a clue about football and if anyone does they are deluded

We are 14th in the league. If it was to end now we would be safe. They have done enough as it stands. That is all they can be judged against. Or do you have a crystal ball?

to be fair we all know he's a plate short of a full dinner set when it comes to football
Maybe after playing Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City he'll have another view
but 10/10 for putting pressure on Warnock, that sounds like don't come calling there's no more money!
Sun Aug 26, 2018 9:42 am
Hmmmm.
Only time will tell of course but so far the season can be summed up in seven words for me.
Plenty of effort - completely lacking in quality.
Whether that effort will be enough to keep us up I doubt but one of the most important things that comes out of that interview is that the owner and manager are on the same page which is important for us to have any chance of staying up.

Good post

Didn t Warnock say that Tan wanted Etheridge to shoot more.... and didn t he say the same before when Marshall
was in Goal ?
Everyone now loves Tan because he is decreasing the debt he ran up by appointing the wrong people ..at least he s not promoting the Stadium painter now.

I disagree somehow.

Maybe people will have a another view as well after those 3 games but as not played them yet its a bit defeatism by yourself, at least tan didn't have same thoughts? NW is under no pressure from tan regarding team that is blatantly obvious

Its going to be touch and go, but we knew that.
But Huddersfield spend £40 mill and they looked as poor as us.
IMO we can't gamble the future of the club again. History demonstrates we have a lot of premier league fans who don't do the championship, thats fine, but lets not think we are a big club that can carry big salaries, we can't.
West Ham & Newcastle are a few games away from fans/club meltdown. They have a far superior squads than us but so do WBA, Stoke and Aston Villa. We need to stay together and hope things go our way.
Us and Fulham were lucky we got promoted last season as the parachute payments were finishing. Just look at what Norwich have had to do this season to survive.

Correct! That's reading between the lines and seeing the truth.

To be honest I was there yesterday and they looked a lot better than us but later in the game they only had 10 men. Nevertheless although we might be short on quality we have a big heart. Respect to our players yesterday for giving it their all.

Exactly where did you get the Tan quote from?I think you made that bit up.Nothing wrong with wanting to play in the same style as Wales.Personally I'd like to see the Cardiff play like Man City.

Call him what you like but he made it possible for us to play in the prem.
Sun Aug 26, 2018 5:11 pm
I think this was posted the other day.
Basically just saying along the same lines as Warnock which is to be expected about team spirit.
If we have the players to survive we will see but he can't really say we don't

Did wonder where that quote came from or was it made up after a previous statement of Marshall shooting?
And if you didn't read or hear Ken Choo talking about Tan recently, then think people, it paints a different picture of his knowledge now compared to when he came in

i dont make things up ... perhaps you didn t read it or remembered it.

I think I read it as a quote from warnock as a joke.
I don't believe the Marshall rumour was ever true either and it was a piss take of that.

.Tan hasnt been brought up following the game but like most has quickly picked up basics ,and probably just like parents who have zero historical interest in the game believe they know more than they actually do after watching their little johnny play a dozen times..so yes he probably is a bit naive..but thinking a goalkeeper should score more..nah..and to still be thinking it after 8 years..really.?
that story stems from a lecture VT gave about averages {wasnt a football lecture},he believed that the more you shoot,the more likely you are to score {ive actually read a post this week claiming the same btw }..and said during this lecture that he had told our manager this...backed up by a number of players relaying a story from a VT visit to the training ground..{MM never applied this shoot on sight policy }....the Marshal bit..? ive not heard a single person say that THEY heard him say that..it was agenda based anti Tan crap ,my brothers mate who works at the academy told me a fellow coach over heard it type thing { but never a name }

There's nothing in his latest media story of him saying such a thing and not on radio either so be nice for people who quote him saying it please put up a link for either time he said goalie must shoot more?
As for saying squad good enough sure if he said completely the opposite same fans would be as vocal condemning him, ? His knowledge of football may not be the best but he knows enough to leave NW alone and let him manage unhindered and that's what matters
