Stuart O'Keefe and Rhys Healey to leave Cardiff City on loan, confirms Neil Warnock

The pair are to join Plymouth Argyle and MK Dons respectively after being omitted from the 25-man Premier League squad

Stuart O'Keefe and Rhys Healey are leaving Cardiff City on loan until January, Neil Warnock has confirmed.

Midfielder O'Keefe will head to Plymouth Argyle on a temporary deal, while promising young striker Healey is set to join MK Dons.

Neil Warnock confirmed the deals at his press conference looking ahead to Cardiff's Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town when he was asked bout loan exits.

"Stuart O’Keefe has agreed to go down to Plymouth and we want to get young Stuart O'Keefe and Rhys Healey to leave Cardiff City on loan, confirms Neil Warnock Rhys more games, we’ve had a number of Division One and Two clubs after him," said Warnock.

"We think we've picked the right one, because we want him to play games like young Mark Harris, who went out to Newport County and is notching goals up.

"It's good for us to keep our eye on on things.

"I believe that Rhys is signing for MK Dons today, even though I know we had offers from League One clubs.

"But I don't want him to go there and be on the bench, I want him to play games. You can't force managers to play them but I think Paul Tisdale is the ideal manager to look after your lad."

Both Healey and O'Keefe are signing contracts until January 1, when the Bluebirds will assess their situations.

Healey had impressed with a number of goals in pre-season for both Cardiff's Under-23s side and the first team, while O'Keefe has never been a first choice pick under Warnock and goes out on his third loan stint in three seasons - after playing for MK Dons and Portsmouth in previous seasons.

Healey, 23, has scored one Cardiff goal in 11 league appearances, while O'Keefe, 27, - a favourite under former boss Russell Slade - has played 38 league games for the Bluebirds since joining in January 2015, scoring twice.

Cardiff are still hoping to receive loan offers for Lee Tomlin and Anthony Pilkington, with one week remaining in the EFL loan window (which shuts on August 31).

Good moves for all concerned.

Surprised nobody is willing to take Pilks. He'd be a great signing for middle Champ club.

Plus Tomlin did a job for Forest, surely someone wants him?!

I understand there are potential moves for both players but Tomlin's wages are a bit of an issue. Not sure why Pilks is still here but possibly the same?

As the week goes on, deals will surely be done as other teams will be more desperate for decent players and maybe free up more wage money, whilst City will surely narrow the gap in order to move them out?

Either way, I wish all players the best in the hope they find some game time and some form :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Tomin will probably only go if City pay all his wages.

If not then he's just sitting around the club picking up £000's for doing nothing. Get him on loan at whatever cost to make him at least earn it.

Pilkington IMO should have been in the 25 ahead of Harris as City have plenty of wide pacy players.

Exactly. Even if we're paying most of their wages it's still a saving on a player who is doing nothing here.

I share your views in someone will take a gamble on both of them and good luck to them too.

MK Dons have signed Cardiff City striker Rhys Healey on loan until January.

The 23-year-old has previously had loan spells with Colchester United, Dundee, Newport and Torquay.

He could make his debut for Paul Tisdale's side against Exeter City - where Tisdale spent 12 years as boss - on Saturday.

"With his work-rate and ability, I think this is a nice fit," Tisdale told the club website.

"He is a player who is hungry to play and prove himself."

ARGYLE have signed Stuart O'Keefe on loan from Cardiff City.

The 27-year-old midfielder spent much of last season on loan at Portsmouth, and could make his Pilgrims league debut against Pompey on Saturday, September 1.

Stuart will not be part of the squad for this weekend's fixture against Peterborough United, as Argyle are yet to receive international clearance for the player.

O'Keefe began his career as a youth player at Ipswich Town before moving to Southend United as a 16-year-old. He played a handful of games for the Shrimpers at senior level before being bought by Crystal Palace.

During his time as an Eagle, Stuart had a loan spell at Blackpool, before heading to Cardiff permanently. He has played 45 times for the Bluebirds, and had a short stint at MK Dons, before his time at Fratton Park last season.

Stuart's loan spell Home Park runs until January 5, 2019.

Rhys Healey should have looked to prove himself at Championship level if he wants a new contract with us, we know he can play at League 2 level.
