Bluebirds set to sign Pryce

Cardiff City have agreed a deal to sign The New Saints defender Ryan Pryce after beating off interest from a number of other clubs, according to HITC Sport.

Attack-minded right-back Pryce has impressed at TNS since breaking into the first-team in 2015 - earning a trial with Middlesbrough last year.

And his performances in the V9 academy, set up by Leicester and England forward Jamie Vardy to give non-league players a chance to move up the league, has caught the eye of Cardiff.

According to the reports, TNS are resigned to losing the 21-year-old, who will join the Bluebirds’ under-23 team before pushing for a first-team place.

Harry Arter up first

First up is Harry Arter.

First question is how is he settling in at his new club?

"Really enjoying it, just settling in and getting used to the environment but really enjoying it so far.
I think it was the feeling of Cardiff really wanting me, making it quite clear they wanted to bring me up here and make me part of their plans for the season. I felt once I gave my word to Cardiff that was the only decision I wanted to make, to carry on my journey and get it sorted"
.

Playing under Warnock?

"He’s such a great guy, very honest in his assessment of the players and telling you things, which is what you look for in a manager We get on well and hopefully I can do what he asks."

No goals so far?

"It’s a worry becuase you need to score to win but you have to focus on the positives. But those things come with time and I’m hopeful once we score one they will start flowing. Now we’ve got a point we’ve got something to build on."

Hudderfield?

"I played against them last year and they were very well drilled. We’re going to focus on their weaknesses and try to exploit them. They deserve a lot of credit and the manager does. They’re a tough team to play against but it’s something we’re ready for and looking forward to it."

Opportunity to get off the mark?

"You have to try and take positives from what you can. They’re a bit worried about the goals they’ve conceded but I’m sure Man City will score a lot against loads of teams in the league. I don’t think 3 games in there are any ‘must win’ games, but on paper it’s a side people expect to be down there along with us. These games are important even if it’s the 3rd game or the 35th game. Fingers crossed we can put in a positive performance."

Etheridge?

"You need big players to stand up for big moments and I hope that can rub off on the team because it was a big save and those moments are why you play football, going from the lowest to the highest."

Playing at Cardiff City Stadium?

"The atmosphere on Saturday was very similar to the Wales v Ireland game. But there was a great buzz, a bigger stadium than I played at Bournemouth and the crowd will be massive for us this year. I’ve played in front of 30,000 when the fans are moaning and groaning and you see clubs getting relegated because of the negativity from the crowd. But I was glad for the fans that we got a point out of it."

Next up, Neil Warnock

Injuries?

First up on the agenda for Neil Warnock; injuries.

"Not too bad, we’ve had a couple. Aron Gunnarsson is doing ever so well, we’re just trying to build him up, he’ll probably be available for next weekend but we might leave him until after the international break."

Re: PRESS CONFERENCE: NEIL WARNOCK AHEAD OF HUDDERSFIELD GAM

Hudderfield?

"The volume has gone down since my time there, but I still have the same desire. As you get older you get a bit more experienced in what to do and what not to do. My daughter gets shown it at school and college but you get times like that.

"I know the chairman Dean Hoyle very well and there’s a few that have been there. Andy Booth is still there, he was my main man there so it’ll be nice to see a few faces. I went back there for the reunion there and the lads haven’t changed. It’s a lovely club, a real family club and I was really proud to take them into the new stadium from the old Leeds Road.

"It’s incredible. Just as much as what we did last year, nobody gave them a chance. We beat them at the end of the season they went up and it was fabulous for them. David has done a great job, he’s improved the squad no end and it’ll be tough, They’ll be looking at our game as a must win… everyone is going to lose two games to Chelsea and Man City. Man City can score double figures against anyone on their day. I love watching David Silva and they just carry on even without de Bruyne."

Re: PRESS CONFERENCE: NEIL WARNOCK AHEAD OF HUDDERSFIELD GAM

do you look at Huddersfield for inspiration?

"We wanted Huddersfield to stay up last season and it shows what can be achieved. Even with Huddersfield and what they’ve spent, their wage bill we need to creep up.
Must win?

"I don’t think it’s a must-win game but we have to try and get results. You have to look at the rest of the division for points. We’ve got to learn quickly. I thought we learned against Bournemouth and we were unlucky against Newcastle."

Re: PRESS CONFERENCE: NEIL WARNOCK AHEAD OF HUDDERSFIELD GAM

No goals yet?

"The worry is that we were in good positions last week that didn’t materialise into anything substantial. We had one or two good heading situations that were like a damp squib really, so it was disappointing in the last third. You need the correct balls, the desire and the right ability. I hope we can get off the mark this weekend."

Best striking option?

"I don’t know. Theoretically Ken Zohore should be my main man when he’s doing well he scores goals left right and centre. Gary Madine has come back and lost a lot of weight and I look at Glenn Murray at Brighton, who I thought was fantastic the other night. 34 years of age and I’m sure if Gary set his mind to it, he could play a role like that. And we’ve also got Danny Ward who is flying at the minute. In the next few games I’ve got to try all of them.
Reidy will be giving a chance in behind the striker. Not as a midfielder but supplying the striker. It’s difficult because Bobby does such a good job and he didn’t deserve to be left out but I think he’s more of a threat behind the striker."

Neil Etheridge?

"He has been very good at penalty saving but has a little bit to be desired in his ball work. Everything we’ve put in front of him, he’s conquered that and I hope he can improve his distribution as well. 12 months ago he was at Walsall and now he’s in the PL saving penalties… it’s a quick rise for him."

Loan exits?

"Stuart O’Keefe has agreed to go out to Plymouth and we’ve had a number of Division 1 and 2 offers for young Rhys, we want him to play games. Young Mark Harris is doing really well on loan at Newport.
I believe that Rhys is signing for MK Dons today, even though we had League 1 clubs after him. I think Paul Tisdale is the ideal manager for him."

What's missing from the team?

"I keep telling you… goals! We could do with a bit more support from midfield but I’d like to think I could demand more from the midfield lads getting into the box. With all our wide players we can get crosses into the box and either Ken learns more about heading or we can try someone else."

Tougher league?

"Oh yeah, every team we play are going to be thinking ‘thank goodness we’ve got Cardiff this week’. The fixtures coming up are horrendous on paper but we haven’t got to worry about tables yet, just about getting points to see where we are at Christmas."

Re: PRESS CONFERENCE: NEIL WARNOCK AHEAD OF HUDDERSFIELD GAM

Josh Murphy?

"I thought it was a bit harsh criticising me for criticising him! He’s just got to learn about defensive duties, that’s all. Everything else, I want to encourage him. I love watching him play, I love watching him in training. He’s on the training ground morning and afternoon trying to get better himself. He does things he doesn’t have to do - as some of the other lads do, which is great to see. The fans know we’re all trying to improve the club. The most difficult job I have now is leaving one or two out of the 18 not even on the bench! But it’s nice some of the players don’t take it too hard, even though they’re disappointed! We’ve got Kadeem doing well and one or two that can play out there as well. I’ve got quite a few options out there at the moment."

Where are goals going to come from?

"I don’t think anyone would put any money on us scoring at the moment if I’m honest. Who knows where it’s going to come from, Vincent (Tan) wants Neil Etheridge to shoot more!

"We’ve got to work out how we can do it, that’s what we’re doing in training. We’ve got the players, it’s just a matter of giving them a few strings. Ken has shown he can go on a seven or eight goal scoring run when he gets going, but we just need to get him over that initial barrier. He was in good positions two or three times last week and didn’t even get close. So I’m hoping this week’s training gets him a bit closer.

"You haven’t got to get too down at this stage of the season regarding points, but even at home against the top six I think we can pick up some points."

That's all from the boss

So that’s all from Warnock for today.

Goals - or a lack of them - featured prominently and a potential return date for Aron Gunnarsson was a big plus.

And there was the news that Stuart O’Keefe and Rhys Healey are leaving on loan

A good informative contract from Neil Warnock and Harry Arter :thumbright:

Some of his comments regarding Josh Murphy and the lack of goals amongst the forwards are, I believe, typically Neil Warnock and designed to get the message across to the players themselves more than the supporters

We should all know by now that our manager says most things by design! :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Nice one Chris!

Had to laugh at Warnock saying he may save Gunnarsson until after the international break.
That’ll mean he can go off to play for Iceland and get injured again!

Hopefully the opposite. If he isn't in the squad before the break, Warnock has a stronger hand in telling Iceland that he is not fully fit.
