Social media fall-out

22/08/18

Newcastle United striker Joselu has taken to social media to ask fans whether Cardiff City’s Harry Arter should have been sent off — as the fall-out from Saturday’s 0-0 draw rumbles on.

The forward posted on Instagram to display his anger over one of the games many contentious tackles.

Lots of fans and pundits argued Arter should have been shown a red card for the first half tackle, though further challenges by Magpies duo Kenedy and Isaac Hayden also sparked debate — with the latter seeing red for his rash challenge on Josh Murphy.

After Joselu asked ‘what do you think?’, the result showed 82 per cent of his followers (mostly Newcastle fans) also believed Arter should have been sent off.

Arter and Kennedy could have easily both gone.

Premiership refs not up to it? Two incidents tonight at villa both clearly seen by premier ref and neither player sent off both red card tackles unquestionably as similar to Saturdays incidents ...

It was a red for me but their player got let off in the first half. Had he gone then, it would have been a different story possibly. Still great to get our first point and being above Arsenal in the league and outside the relegation zone.

I think Newcastle got a point with Arter, but then its swings and roundabouts, taking into account the sending off ,they got away with far worse than us.
