' NEIL WARNOCK NOT AFRAID TO DROP PLAYERS '

Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:16 am

Neil Warnock certainly isn't afraid to drop those who underperform.

Having stuck by his trusted troops for the majority of the 2017/18 campaign - partly as there were no other options at times - Warnock made four changes to his starting XI for the visit of Newcastle from the opening day defeat to Bournemouth.

While three of them were somewhat expected, his defensive change was bold.

Cardiff City right-back Lee Peltier started against Bournemouth but was not in the matchday squad to face Newcastle

Lee Peltier was left out of the matchday squad altogether as Bruno Manga started at right-back, with Jazz Richards once again being named among the substitutes.

And it's understood the decision was purely tactical.

A warning sign perhaps? Whatever the reason, Warnock certainly has options at his disposal to change things if needed.

So there can be no resting on laurels, either on the pitch or on the training ground. Not that Warnock would allow that anyway.

Not only was he not afraid to drop Zohore he was willing to spend £6 million on a rather dubious replacement.

If you look at the number of opportunities Zohore has had in the team and compare it to Madine it's ridiculous. I actually believe if Madine had the same chances as Zohore he would score more goals. Madine is good in the air and in my view he would have buried that second headed chance that Zohore put wide. Madine hasn't yet had a decent run in the side. Yet Ken carries on with his duties but unable to score.

If you think Madine is better then Zohore your living on a different planet to the rest of us.

No debate to be had he isn’t.

In fact are you Gary Madine?

Just said he would score more given the same chances. Let's face it Ken isnt good enough. He struggled last year and is out of his depth this year.

I have no doubt as soon as Gunnerson is half fit he will be back in no matter how the rest of the midfield is performing
