The FA Cup Final/Semi 2008 Tickets - what really happened

Wed Aug 08, 2018 8:24 pm

Seen a few posts on here about that lately and what happened with the tickets and can't help but think it gets twisted.

When we got to the Semi Final of the FA Cup we only had about 9/10,000 season ticket holders, so when the Club put the tickets on Sale initially we had 35,000 tickets and were allowed to buy 3 each 27-30,000 (rest on general sale that's how I remember it), our average attendance was under 14,000.

Then when it came to the final and we only had 25,000 tickets so we were only allowed to buy 2 each (18-20,000) and then the Club did their marketing ploy and said anyone who bought a season ticket for the following season could get a Cup Final Ticket up until the point they ran out (that next season was still at Ninian Park and still in the Championship and we had finished 12th that season).

People seem to like to re-write history and say things like 'its like the FA Cup Final' when all the tickets went to glory supporters.

That is a total myth, I know I passed my tickets on to mates who are 100% Cardiff fans and I imagine 99% of others did, I don't know many deserving people who missed out on the Semi or the Final so it always baffles me when people pull it up.

pretty sure the semi final was 3 per ST holder....and then a stub from a home league game { think it was the Hull game } entitled you to a ticket.i was a ST holder but went with a mate to queue for other friends tickets off the stubs . i stood behind a bloke in the queue who moaned for over an hour how ST holders had priority ,got everything and how it wasnt fair on people that couldnt afford them..
i think your spot on with final tickets though..
