Cardiff are looking to bring in Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa on loan

Cardiff City are working on a loan deal to bring in Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa, according to Sky sources.

The 24-year-old can play across the centre of midfield, though is most effective in the No 8 or No 10 position.

He did not feature for Betis in their friendly fixture on Saturday, ahead of a potential move.

Celta tried to sign Camarasa, but the player did not want to leave

There are several Betis players that, less than ten days before LaLiga begins, are being tempted by several clubs. Among them is Víctor Camarasa, for whom Cardiff City is tightening and a lot in the last hours to take their services. The Welsh aim for the transfer of the green and white for next season. The footballer has been tried this summer by many teams, especially for the Celta de Vigo who tried to sign him .

But his response was always negative. Now Cardiff, who has returned to the Premier after several years, is trying by all means to convince him to take their services , knowing that Camarasa does not have much intention to get out of Betis. The Welsh have moved the message that there may have the leading role in the Betis seems complicated , especially after the recruitment of several players (Sergio Canales or Inui) who can occupy a square similar to yours on the lawn.26 games last seasonTo leave, Camarasa (who signed for the Heliopolis last summer from the Levant ) would leave the Verdiblanca entity after playing last year 26 games (24 LaLiga and two Cup) , which scored a goal and was on the lawn 1,360 minutes.Precisely Cardiff City has been the last rival of Betis this preseason.

Those of Quique Setién defeated to the Welsh in their own stadium by 1-2 , with so many of Loren Morón and Cristian Tello. A match in which, by the way, Camarasa did not have minutes.

He turned down Brighton in the last January window with interest also apparently form Tottenham, West Ham and Schalke. Would suggest there is something about him but appears to be not on Betis plans for this up and coming season having signed last year for 5 years so something must be wrong

Camarasa: I turned down Brighton
By Football Espana staff

Midfielder Victor Camarasa has revealed he rejected a move to Brighton to help bring Betis ‘back to where we belong’.

The English Premier League club were reported to have lodged a €10m bid for the former Levante and Alaves midfielder, who moved to the Seville-based club for €7m in summer.

“When I first joined Betis, I knew exactly how big a club this is,” Camarasa told EFE, as cited by ABC de Sevilla.

“I rejected many big teams to come here and my idea is to triumph at the club and help bring us back to where we belong in Spanish football.

“My only thought is to continue here to work on our objectives and help finish the project which we have started.”

Camarasa starred for Alaves on a season-long loan deal last season, helping them to a top-half finish and a first ever Copa del Rey final, while he has also been linked to Tottenham, West Ham and Schalke.

From 2016

Skinny

Jack of all trades; master of none comes to mind when we watch Victor Camarasa. He’s a pretty solid midfielder and can chip in at both ends of the pitch but doesn’t really excel at either. There isn’t a skill that he can hang his hat on.

Neat and tidy player and most naturally a holding midfielder, Camarasa has been used in a few positions around midfield. He doesn’t produce enough goals – either by scoring or providing assists – to play in an advanced space for a prolonged period of time, and while his defensive work is decent he doesn’t have the discipline or concentration to be relied upon.

2016 has been…

There is something about Victor Camarasa that we couldn’t quite put our finger on when we watched him. He did all the basics well two years ago when he was touted as a really exciting player and had his name linked with some of the best clubs in world football.

Since then he hasn’t really kicked on and is pretty much the same player that he was at the beginning of 2015. Thankfully beIN Sports’ David Cartlidge was hand to tell us why: “With Camarasa his attitude let him down a bit. Levante needed him to step up and he didn’t, instead he was seeking a move away rather than focusing on playing. This continued over the summer and rather than heading for a Sevilla or Valencia, he ended up at a promoted side.”

Had Camarasa kept his head down, focused on his football and then let the rest take care of itself he’d be somewhere else right now that Alaves. He might not have single-handedly been able to keep Levante in the Spanish top flight but his suitors would have been more than impressive than the recently promoted side.

What’s next?

He needs a word in his ear. Someone needs to ensure he focuses himself on his football and let the transfer moves happen as a result of his performances. Victor isn’t perhaps throwing away natural talent to the same extent as someone like Ravel Morrison has done previously, but if he stays on his current trajectory he can only look forward to a career as a solid professional.

That isn’t a career to be sniffed at; but with the original promise of much more – it is a little disappointing.

Even if Levante orchestrate an immediate return to the top flight for 2017/18, Camarasa doesn’t want to be part of that squad. He won’t relish another season at the wrong end of the table – even if Alaves are so far keeping their noses dry so far this term.

C- An adequate footballer who might still be more

Cardiff linked with Real Betis midfielder

Interesting stuff from Spain, with Marca reporting that Cardiff are eyeing up a move for Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa.

The 24-year-old didn’t actually get off the bench on the weekend in the Bluebirds’ 2-1 defeat to Los Verdiblancos.

But reports in Spain suggest he’s a wanted man, and the Bluebirds are among the interested parties.

Camarasa - a former Spain Under-21 international - joined Real Betis from Levante last summer, playing 26 times in all competitions for the club, scoring one goal.

I know this might sound too simplistic, but the guy was sat ten feet away from Warnock last Saturday. Couldn’t a deal have been done then (Saturday)? That’s of course if there’s any substance in this story.

At least half a dozen Spanish press links in the last 15 mins for the link. Looks like there is definitely substance in this rumour.

Can't see this happening as the player has clearly stated on numerous occasions that he wants to stay at the Real Betis.

Pete O'Rourke normally only posts when signings are close and they often come off to be fair to him, so I would say this has a fairly strong possibility of happening.

The Real Betis midfielder has been linked with a move to join Cardiff but nothing has materialized so far. Warnock’s men are in dire need of boosting their forces in the middle of the park and to that end, a move for Camarasa seems like a step in the right direction.

A central midfielder by trade, Camarasa excels in the box-to-box role. He has a great eye for picking out passes and his passing accuracy is quite admirable as well. His ball retention skills, in particular, are exemplary and that could be vital for Cardiff next season.
