However I am surprised at the number of posts on different threads that fans put stating those facts to try and justify the clubs current position when it comes to investing money/not investing money on new players and the clubs expectations this season. It’s as if all the hard work has been done, we have achieved and now we can say we have done what we needed to and can now just switch off. (Just in case we do get relegated).
I would suggest it’s now that the club adapts/acts like a Premier League club and brings in players to fight for our position in the Premier League and retain our status. It’s as if many fans accept that we have done the hard work and are willing to accept relegation purely because we weren’t expected to get to the top flight last season anyway. Surely now we have reached the top flight we should fight to keep our position and not try to justify relegation with such comments without giving it a good go. Just seems many fans wouldn’t be over concerned if we got relegated again and many now seem to count on the non exists yo yo effect of bouncing straight back up. It took us 51 years to get there the first time! It is not easy to get out of the Championship. Now in the top flight the. Let’s give it a go. If City get relegated without giving it a go then I can see crowds halve overnight. This season we will probably average over 30k if relegegated we will be back down to half of that. Some fans just seem to concede that all the hard work has been done so it doesn’t matter if we go back down. Do fans want to watch all the top teams in a full CCS or Championship games in a half empty stadium. Let’s fight for our status and not just accept that we overachieved in the first place.
