Cardiff City are preparing a €3m bid for Besiktas striker Alvaro Negredo, according to reports in Turkey.

Neil Warnock has re-iterated his desire to bring in a forward before Thursday's 5pm transfer deadline.

When asked after the match if a new striker was on the agenda, the Yorkshireman responded: "Yes I think so. We didn't play with one today and I thought we did alright.

"We had two smaller lads and I thought we played quite well doing that. We had a bit more threat and movement so who knows."

And Turkish media outlet Haber Turk claim former Man City frontman Negredo is on the Bluebirds' shopping list.

Cardiff City are planning to make a £3 million offer for Beşiktaş and Spain striker Álvaro Negredo, according to Habertürk in Turkey

By Jamie Kemble

Monday 6th August 2018

Negredo has Premier League experience, having won the Premier League title back in 2014 with the Citizens.

Habertürk say that the Turkish side would be likely to accept an offer from Cardiff, due to his wages.

Negredo, 32, was not included in either matchday squad as Besiktas progressed past Faroese side B36 Tórshavn 8-0 on aggregate in Europa League qualifying.

The Bluebirds are on the search for a striker after their 2-1 friendly defeat to Real Betis, in which they played without an out-and-out forward.

Cardiff could face competition from Spanish sides Levante and Real Sociedad who are also interested in Negredo, however, Rayo Vallecano have accepted defeat according to Aksam.

Speaking after the defeat to Betis, Warnock said: “If it’s not possible then we’ll go with what we’ve got,”

Absolute bull shit. Who makes these stories up. He is 33 this year and if he is on 75k a week there is no way we would pay that. Warnock does not want primadonnas he wants young hungry players.

Cardiff City are preparing a €3m bid for Besiktas striker Alvaro Negredo, according to reports in Turkey.

Following the Bluebirds' 2-1 defeat to Real Betis on Saturday, Neil Warnock re-iterated his desire to bring in a forward before Thursday's 5pm transfer deadline.

The forward joined Besiktas on a three-year deal from Valencia in 2017 following a loan spell with Middlesbrough.

Negredo - who won Euro 2012 with Spain - netted eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions last term and has a wealth of Premier League experience from his time with Man City and Boro.

He won the Premier League and League Cup with Man City during the 2013/14 campaign while he tasted Copa del Rey success in 2010 during his time with Sevilla.

Negredo is thought to be one of Besiktas' highest earners, and the Turkish media claim the club are eager to shift him off their wage bill.

And while the reported transfer fee - albeit for a 32-year-old - appears low for a man of Negredo's experience, his wages could prove to be a stumbling block in any potential move to the Welsh capital.

What would Walesonline/Mediawales do for news if they didn't spend all their time looking at this board and the other one?

If besiktas could get 3 million for a player not in their plans and we would agree to also pay half of his wages for them and they keep paying the other half say then financially its a good deal for besiktas and cardiff city?

My hunch is a young Premier striker on loan, but not Tammy. 'No bigtime Charlies!' as NW says.

In my opinion another Lambert.
I'd rather us go with what we've got then make a signing like this.

He's 32 years old.
As likely to get rid of him as Lambert.
Haven't we learnt anything from some of the crap deals we've made in the past.
We're better off keeping Bogle or Pilkington.

If he's no good Wez his next move will be a freebie thus wasting 3m.To be fair one of the things I admire about Warnock is that he respects the fact he's spending other peoples money.Somethings not quite right about this. The only way I'd like to see this guy coming is if the player can do a deal with his club and he gets off their wage bill. Then we could sign him for nowt or else loan him for a year.

High wages and we can hear the alarm bells. A big no from myself due to that fact although I'm sure some fans see it as a good deal.

Does seem like another load of old bollocks doesn't it , ( can I say that here ?). It'd be a reasonable signing if the player would take a wage cut as a way of getting back into the premiership market and, if that was his motivation, maybe he'd try s bit.

He must have done something wrong in Turkey since they bought him for £27million and they want to unload him for €3million.

We do pretty desperate need at least one good midfielder a right back and a striker though and if we don't act very quickly before transfer deadline we'll have to rely on loans which we can't guarantee happening and I think we can only have two anyway so at best we're one short.

£3m is about a seasons wages at £75k a week so a loan bid could be plausible

If we want any loans then they have to be completed by Thursday's deadline. After that, EFL clubs can complete loans up to the end of the month, but none are allowed in the Premier League.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out - "men of Harlech" too.
It's been touched upon in another thread also, and I think I read it on "Wales Online" who apparently got it wrong.

I'm glad really too, because I'd like to know exactly what's happening ( good or bad) by Thursday so I know whether to get excited or scared !
