REALISATION OF WHERE WE ARE AND WHO WE ARE...

Sat Aug 04, 2018 8:13 pm

Players will look at cardiff and not see a club thats expected to stay up for a few seasons.
We as fans need to realise that we are not going to be able to compete with any other club in this league on a Transfer table.
Leads us to the realisation that if we do (very unlikely ) stay up this year, the building blocks will have a much stronger foundation for next season.

So this season we need to be astute in our business off the pitch and even more on it.

Mate, don't take this personally now but this is what frustrates me, who we are is a Capital City, a one Team City, owned by a man who is worth £1.2 Billion.

Almost 33,000 fans watched us play Reading on the final day of the season, if we can get 33,000 averages next season that would put us in the top 10 best supported Clubs in the Premier League and it could only get better, the Club could establish itself as a Premier League Club, expand the ground and we could be playing in front of 40,000 in a few years, maybe even challenge for Europe, why not? the likes of Bolton, Stoke and Burnley have done it.

There is absolutely ZERO reason why this Club should be even contemplating that going down 'might be ok cos we could bounce straight back up'.

Yes, the Club has been miss-managed in the past, needs to cut its cloth accordingly etc but NOW is the time to kick on, I think the whole attitude around the place at the moment is just ultra negative, Warnock will always be a legend for what he's done but people need to take their tongues out of his arse and realise the Club is bigger. Unless he pulls something out of the hat in the next few weeks this transfer window has been nothing short of an absolute joke IMO.

Can’t agree with RV anymore really!

People must have short term memories, only been out of the championship for three months and it’s like people have forgot how difficult it would be to just “bounce straight back”

Rv Totally right...it s a bit like when wales played well in the Euros... Tan wanted us to play like Wales...total disaster under Trollope...didn t have the players or the manager to do it..now we have got promoted which was no mean feat by Neil Warnock ...Tan now wants us to adopt the Burnley model..I AGREE our last sojourn into the Premier League was a disaster...but our team needed improving in most departments after last year and i think have fallen short so far...we will have to see whether these new players arrive this week...but i want hold my breath..

The potential to have good gates has always been here. Over the years we have always had the odd huge gate, but it is never sustained. There were still 12 Championship teams who had higher average attendances than us last season, despite us being in the top two for most of that season. I think we will attract a lot more support in the PL, certainly for the first season at least. Not sure if we will average 33k, we should be able to given the geography of the club and the potential fanbase. In fact, if the ground was big enough you would think we should be able to average 50k considering there is no real competition close by. We will see soon just how many we can actually get here on a regular basis rather than the one off games against the big 6.

I agree Steve, and that's partly a point I was trying to make. I have not supported us as long as some but I'v been going since 1992 and the amount of times I have seen us take 1 step forward and then 3 steps back is incredible.

You have to take your opportunity's when they present themselves and our opportunity is now to try and establish and cement our place in the top division and grow the Club and the fan base forthwith.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would think it will be ok for us to go straight back down, for me it would be an absolute disaster. There is no guarantee of a 'bounce back' whatsoever, the Club could free fall and in a few years we could be back to playing in front of a half empty stadium maybe even worse.

The Club had to find a balance, of course they did, but I think they have got it wrong, I really hope we don't look back in 5 years time bouncing around in the Championship like the likes of Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds or worse league 1
or 2 thinking that we missed the boat.

Advert of what Cardiff is at the moment is exactly what I have said mate.

Premier League Club - tick
Capital City - tick
One team City - tick
Likely to have 30,000 crowds - tick
Potential to be even bigger - tick
Billionaire owner - tick
No reason to say we would 'bounce straight back up' - tick
Now is the time to kick on - tick (absolutely)
This transfer window has been a failure (so far) - tick.

Nothing I have said is incorrect, why would Huddersfield be able to pull off a coup before us if we were competing on a level playing field we should be a more attractive proposition than them.

Its time the Club took this opportunity seriously it could be years before we get another shot at it.

Like I said before we went out an spent millions last time and finished in 20th.

It doesn’t always work that way there have been plenty of teams that have gone up and stayed up.

Bournemouth and Swansea being the best examples.

Problem is if we go for it and it goes wrong (like last time) we are back where we started.

Palace and Hull didn’t over spend last time and did ok.

In Warnock I trust. You need some gratitude and to trust him too.

I get where people are coming from but there is no money pot it’s that simple there is less than 50m in total for players increased staff and wage costs etc I’d rather not gamble again and end up in the same boat in the championship in a right mess again but that’s just me

Agree the club has always had massive potential but the club needs to be run on a sound footing first and foremost
