Bolton Wanderers Are Set To Sign Lee Camp From Newly-Promoted Club Cardiff City

Transfer Gossip: Bolton Wanderers set to sign Cardiff City goalkeeper

As revealed by Alan Nixon of The Sun, Bolton Wanderers have targeted Cardiff City goalkeeper Lee Camp to be the club’s new backup Goalkeeper.

The former Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United player of the season looks set to join Wanderers on loan for the season.

The 33 year old spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland.

With nearly 500 career appearances across all the divisions, Camp is certainly an experienced player.

Wanderers new academy goalkeeping coach, Ben Williams, will deputise for Camp on the bench tomorrow as the loan hasn’t been done in time.

Phil Parkinson stated earlier today:

“The benefit of having Ben registered as a first team player meanwhile is that is allows us to send Jake Turner on loan which is important for his development – he can now go out and learn his trade in men’s football.

“It is important that we’re covered with Ben who can play that dual role at the club and he will be in the squad for tomorrow.

“We’re close to bringing in another goalkeeper too – we were hoping that it would happen this morning, but it’s dragged on unfortunately.

“Hopefully that will be sorted as soon as possible however as we look to continue strengthening the squad.”

Let's be fair he is dump at this level, never really been the same since he left Forest, if I remember he left for Norwich then West Brom then Bournemouth then recovered some form at Rotherham and that was it.

People genuinely thought he was gonna be first choice last season, glad he weren't because we found a gem in Etheridge.

If he goes I will drive him there free of charge. Done nothing but sponge wages off us.

Why all this ill feeling towards Camp? We signed him knowing he was injured so didn't start as first choice. Etheridge had a great season and Murphy was an able back up. As a result when he was fit we didn't need him, sent him out on loan. Simple as that. Sunderland would have paid a large part of his salary for six months. Unless other people know something else I cant see what he has done wrong.

Recall him playing against us when he was at Forest where he made some awesome saves and look like he was heading for a Premier club. He looks a blob now compared to those days.

Surprised that we gave Murphy another contract when we had Camp still under contract, let’s hope Bolton take him and pay all his wages!

Ive read Murphy is a good person to have about. If warnock stays wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a keeper coach for us.

He was pretty much the best keeper in the Championship when he was with Forest, just declined.. one of them players that gets his move to a club who get to the Prem from Championship then fiddle away.
