The only issue is his age which means he's really entitled to retire and I'd like to see him choose and train his successor for a season.
Martin ONeil or Roy Keane would both be ideal men to take it to the next level , but let's first let Sir Neil establish us as a comfortable mid table team for a season or two. I'm happy with him as long as he wants to stay though.

Not sure about that to be honest. I think its one of those blinkered ones where people have a dislike of the man so discredit him rather than look at the actual record.
When he went to Sunderland they were second from bottom, he was appointed at the end of August, had no summer to look at it and guided Sunderland to the League Title and Manager of the year in his first season then kept Sunderland up in the Premier League the following year and he resigned in the December the year after that, probably I would imagine cos he felt he had taken Sunderland as far as he could (look at them now, they are a joke of a Club) and never did anything after he left bouncing around at the bottom of the Premiership until they eventually have had back to back relegation's.
He made a mistake taking the Ipswich job, I'm not being funny but Ipswich are a bit of an irrelevance in Football circles these days, Mick McCarthy has been there since 2012 and not managed to achieve diddly squat. His Win % is not to dissimilar to Keanes at Ipswich that doesn't make either of them bad managers IMO.
Other than that, he's been a relativity successful assistant to Martin O'Neil for Ireland and that's all he's done. He could have taken the Celtic Job twice and mopped like Rogers has but he turned it down.
I'm not entirely sure how that equates to him being an horrendous manager to be honest but I think he has zero interest in it as he is a disciplinarian who's style just doesn't match up with the modern day pampered footballer, that's why the likes of Mr Warnock will and never have got a top job.

I don’t dislike the man. Truth be told I quite like that he is forthright. I also like his treatment of the lack of professionalism from some of his players including leaving some behind after they missed a bus.
Horrendous manager comes from knowing and chatting to Sunderland and Ipswich fans. Neither rate him. True they were in relegation zone when he took over but it was after 4 games. He had lots of support from his chairman at Sunderland and signed kavanagh which was instrumental for them.
At Ipswich no money he had no positive effect on them.

Very good balanced post. I quite like Keene although I don't like ManUre at all.
My hope is that somehow we can stay up and Warnock stays healthy for the season an ends his career in a high note. He will be 70 and it will be time to leave the stage....
My fear is that things go badly and our more fickle fans will be calling for changing the manager. Then whatever Vincent Tan does (stick or twist) he will have 1/2 the fans seeing him as a villain again.
I would like to see NW given the full season whatever our fortunes - I think he deserves the opportunity to see it through till next May.I
