Cardiff City youngster Mark Harris joins Newport County on loanBy Callum Ellis Cardiff City forward Mark Harris has joined League Two side Newport County on loan until January.Harris made his senior debut for Cardiff during their FA Cup defeat against Fulham in January 2017, but first team minutes have been hard to come by for the youngster.
He went on to make two more appearances during the 2016-17 campaign, but failed to feature once under Warnock last season.
Harris spent last season with the Bluebirds’ under-23 side, and has also represented Wales at under-17, under-19, under-20 and under-21 level.
The youngster will link up with the Exiles until January, and becomes Mike Flynn’s ninth addition of the summer window.
“I’m obviously delighted to sign for Newport County,” Harris told iFollow Exiles.
“I like to create goals, score them as well so hopefully I can do that this season. I don’t mind playing upfront in a two, my main strength I would say is running in behind and getting at defenders.
“I just needed to get out and play some games, I feel like Newport will be a club where I can develop and get a lot of games under my belt.
“It will be a club where I can get experience, so I feel that this club brings a great opportunity for me.”He added:
“The gaffer has been very helpful, he’s rang me a couple of times and we’ve been on the phone and I’ve liked the sound of everything he’s said to me. I just can’t wait now for the first game Saturday.”Newport boss Flynn said:
“Mark is a young, exciting player. He’s a good finisher, makes intelligent runs, and is very quick.
“He also shows the hunger and appetite that I want at this football club. He’s highly thought of by Neil Warnock and Craig Bellamy at Cardiff City and I’m delighted to have got him in.”
