Real Betis, who's going?

Wed Aug 01, 2018 4:27 pm

Need my Bluebirds fix now. Season can't come soon enough!

Who's going to Betis game? Score predictions? I didn't realise they play Bournemouth on Friday, must be splitting the squad?

I'm going 2-2 draw. Just want to see some goals to be honest.

Had my tickets this week, always look forward to friendlies but they never really live up to anything.
Am looking forward to seeing Reid and Murphy though.

Yeah same. Few beers beforehand to liven it up.

On a stag day/night in Cardiff Saturday. 12.03 train from Tonypandy. Most of the mob are Pandy Inn/Cambrian rugby, so I may go to our game if they start giving Calon Lan an early airing. We'll see hey.....F.T.J !!!

Panda inn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most people I see in / or outside there are one of the following -
Men Standing around in fluorescent jackets
Women covered in tattoos
Men / women fighting
Men / women having conversations in middle of toad holding up traffic
Blokes having press up competition in middle of road
Woman hitting bloke on head with her stilettos
Man trying to catch his Rottweiler that has just ran out of the pub.

All of the above I have seen in broad daylight. In fact there is always something happening outside there.
Best of luck on the stag day / night mate.

Is that on Tonypandy Square, at the bottom of Cydach Hill ? Things must have gotten worse, although if it's the place I'm thinking of it was always a bit of a punch up venue. Is the White Hart still there ?
What's Cambrian Rugby? Is that what they call Penygraig Rugby Club now perhaps ?
How interesting - I don't dwell in the past more than I can help, so I hadn't really thought of that place for many years but of course it's still there I suppose. I went there one day maybe 20 years ago and they'd knocked the school down and replaced it with a car park and a market selling cheap running shoes and fake videos - that made me very sad to tell the truth.

I often mention that I've got bugger all to do with Wales these days and no real cultural connection with the place , ( being from the generation who actually did have picks and shovels ). I've lived in both Scotland and England longer than I ever lived in Wales at this stage and I don't keep up with the place , and yet for some reason I've always kept some strange addiction for Cardiff City and watched for their results from the strangest places from Texas to the polar circle. I also sometimes go to see them if I can in all sorts of places such as Norwich and Hull most recently, but I must admit that the last home game I attended was at Ninian Park !
Anyway, forgive my ramblings but thank you for reawakening ancient memories and shadowy figures from the past going to chapel in the rain and counting their pennies to make the round trip to Cardiff for the match on a Saturday.

I'll tell you one thing, wherever they are now they'll be looking down at the boys finally making it to the big league and saying ,
"See - I told you they'd do it one day"

White Hart still there but closed down

Is it vacant ? Up for auction or anything ?

Not sure mate. My father in law lives there and we were driving around the main shopping area as you can no longer go through it and I glanced up the street - it looks boarded up but didn’t see a sign (that’s not to say that there wasn’t one though)

White Hart is still open in the middle of Dunraven Street. Known as Morgan's bar now (although us older ones still call it the White Hart). Cambrian Welfare RFC are from Clydach Vale and have been one of the more successful teams of the last 10 years or so. I won't need good luck with the Pandy Inn boys as I am one of them !!! With regard to the "nonsense" that the pub is known for, most of it is caused by the younger element who visit the place very seldom. Any "normal" person visiting the "rat's nest" may come as a stranger but leave as a friend. I should know as I "help out" on weekends. F.T.J !!!

Really hope we have Grujic by then... if we do then I’ll go 3-1 City

Six mate I really didn’t mean to offend. Was just having a bit of fun with what I’ve seen over the years.
Tbh I love pubs with character.
Surprised that White Hart is open as it looked pretty run down from where I was looking from (a glance up the street from the mini roundabout).
Anyway, have a good day Saturday :occasion5:

Always look forward to the home pre season friendly as it’s a chance to see the new signings if you didn’t catch them on the road. Depends what sort of team Betis put out after Bournemouth on Friday but won’t be an easy game as they are a very good team when at full strength.

Re: Real Betis, who's going?

Got my tickets the other week so I will for sure be going.

Cardiff ideally will pick the same starting line-up as the Bournemouth match so I can't wait plus it is on S4C Live.

Prediction For The Bluebirds: CARDIFF 2-1 REAL BETIS

Re: Real Betis, who's going?

Not for me, cant stand preseason friendlies like this especially at home in a massively empty stadium. ill prob watch it on S4C though.

Same, can't stand them basically a training session with no true competitive edge.

Laughing my head off to see the randy bin mentioned, just down the road from me and yes all those things are accurate

Splitting their squad I’d say.

Nah mate, very strange, thing is people are saying they are splitting their squad and maybe they will but I don't get that either.

They kick off their first game of the season 2 weeks tomorrow, they have played a good few friendlies already you would have thought their manager would want to be playing a starting 11 as close to or near enough what he will start with on the opening day in one of these fixtures so I think either us or Bournemouth will be playing a Real Betis second 11

same here i dont get splitting the squad either..would any of us be happy if we had a similar double header with a game versus say Villareal the day before and NW going with 2 half and half teams..me thinks not...maybe in early July but not now..

Clydach Vale ???
Is there a bit of flat land up there big enough for a pitch or do they play attached to ropes ?
What about Penygraig then - have they faded ?

Hi Sir Jimmy, Cam play on the welfare field which is at the left hand end of Brynhyfryd. No wonder they win all their home games!!! Penygraig are still going, not quite the force they once were but things seem to be looking up for them. F.T.J !!!
