Sky, BT and Virgin Media ordered to block free football streams ahead of the 2018/19 season

Football fans will find it even harder to stream matches for free in the 2018-19 season as several major Internet service providers have been ordered to block the websites.

Wednesday 1st August 2018

Companies including BT, Sky and Virgin Media have been named in an order that could have an impact on millions of supporters across the United Kingdom.

UEFA - European football's governing body - are now able to ask ISPs to prevent illegal material being shown live online.

And those who do watch illegal streams online could have their Internet disconnected following a High Court "blocking order
Mr Justice Arnold said of the ruling: "The evidence filed by UEFA in support of this application demonstrates that the First Order was very effective in achieving the blocking of access to the Target Servers during UEFA matches.

"Moreover, no evidence has been found of overblocking despite checks having been undertaken.

“The order sought by UEFA differs from the First Order in three main respects. First, it covers additional UEFA competitions. Secondly, there is an adjustment to the first criterion in Confidential Schedule 3.
“This enlarges the subset of infringing steaming servers to be blocked. Thirdly, the requirement to notify hosting providers is made subject to a short delay. This is in order to prevent the order being circumvented.

"The evidence filed by UEFA in support of the application demonstrates that there have been attempts to circumvent the First Order, and therefore this concern is a very real one.

won’t happen. not a chance that hundreds of thousands of people will be chased up for streaming football. obviously if you’re providing it be careful but for those watching they won’t do anything. if you’re really worried just get a VPN for like £6 a month

Just blocking the servers NOT the users.

Same story every year, yes last year they did manage to block some servers/streams early on even Ifollow had an attempt at a VPN blocker but the people who do this will always find away through. Get a decent VPN (not a free one) and you should be fine

I follow depended on you using vpn before registering, or not having a net domain like bt or .uk.com as it filters them out. I used Hotmail. Com and had judt a free vpn no troubles at all last season. But redundant now. : :laughing6: thumbup:

They have been saying the same about PirateBay for years and it's still going as strong as ever - they can't prosecute millions of people for using streams. Perhaps they should be looking at why people decide to use streams in the first place *MONEY*

If Sky etc. charged a MUCH fairer price for matches people wouldn't use streams in the first place!

If you could just to onto the Sky/BT website (not everyone has Sky in their living room) and pay a FAIR price for a game stream say £2 a game I would NEVER watch a stream again.

They would make more money by charging fair prices, I refuse to pay over £20 a month to watch sport.
